1. The Crow
Eric Draven and his wife are brutally murdered. After some time, Eric, played by Brandon Lee, is resurrected by a crow and seeks revenge. Thus, the antihero The Crow is born, who gradually exacts revenge on his wife’s murderers.
Compared to current superhero films, the movie is dark and draws on classic Gothic horror elements. If you have had enough of the MCU and DC and want to see an unusual comic adaptation with unrelenting violence, you should watch The Crow.
2. Hard Boiled
Hard Boiled is the last film of action legend John Woo, which he shot in Hong Kong before he went to America. Inspector Yuen wants to tackle arms smuggling in Hong Kong while two gangster bosses fight for their territory. To win the fight, Yuen must use unusual methods.
Hard Boiled has an incredible amount of shooting. Typically for John Woo, the film mixes martial arts action with wild shootouts and is like the predecessor for what John Wick would do years later. For a long time, the film was indexed here because of its violence, but in February an uncut version of the film will finally be released here as well.
