What features are important for 4K gaming TVs?
This is important for gaming 4K TVs: If you want to buy a 4K TV to play games on, you should pay attention to a few features. Above all, it should have a low input lag of less than 20-25 ms. This is usually enabled by a special gaming mode.
You will see even more details in the games when the 4K TV uses a very good HDR. Ideally, it should use current standards such as HDR10+ or HDR10 Pro. It would be especially good if the TV also has Dolby Vision. This is also an HDR technology that offers the advantage over normal HDR that metadata for each scene and frame can be stored. This results in an even better image.
It is also advisable to pay attention to the peak brightness of the TV. The 4K TV should have a value of at least 600 cd/m². Something in the range of 700 to 800 cd/m² would be very good.
Furthermore, it is advantageous if the TV features FreeSync or G-Sync. These two features are especially important if you want to connect your gaming PC to the TV.

OLED or LED? What matters
Important for a top TV: If you also like to watch movies or series in 4K on the TV, you should of course pay attention to the picture quality. The OLED display offers the best color and black values and overall the best TV experience.
The risk of burn-in is no longer really a concern with OLEDs, especially due to appropriate protective mechanisms. The image is shifted by a few pixels in certain cases, to minimally change the position of bright elements. In addition, the screensaver protects against burn-in.
However, with today’s OLEDs, this happens very rarely in private use. You would have to run the TV on the same channel for several months continuously to experience such an effect. According to a long-term test by RTINGS.com, even after over 5,000 hours, there is no deterioration in brightness or any “burn-ins”.
LED TVs are LCD TVs with LED backlighting. While they do not represent black as well as an OLED, they achieve significantly higher peak brightness and still offer somewhat rich colors as well as strong contrast. Ultimately, it is a matter of price. OLEDs usually cost a few hundred euros more than LED TVs.

With HDMI 2.1 you also get the following important features: Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM). VRR is comparable to FreeSync and G-Sync. It allows for a variable refresh rate, preventing frame tearing.
With ALLM, the mode with the lowest latency is automatically switched to. This gives you the best input lag without any additional steps.

Sony XH90 with HDMI 2.1

Samsung 4K TV with HDMI 2.1: QN85A, QN90A & QN95A
Samsung with several HDMI 2.1 models: The Samsung QLED TVs from 2021 offer almost all HDMI 2.1. Only the models Q70A and Q80A with 50 inches or less, as well as the Q60A series are exceptions.
Otherwise, you can buy the Samsung QLED Q70A, QLED Q80A, QLED QN85A, QLED QN90A, and QLED QN95A. All have HDMI 2.1, except for the exceptions mentioned. However, the entry-level models Q70A and Q80A are currently hardly available.
