On November 17, 2024, the largest PvP battle in Throne and Liberty took place. Thousands of players had prepared for the massive castle siege over the past weeks. In a dev stream, Globalization Design Manager “Tico” now shares his conclusion.
How did the siege go? According to Tico’s statements in the stream (via YouTube), several thousand players from different servers participated in the largest PvP battle of Throne and Liberty to date. The largest group on the server “Stormbringer” included over 3,900 players. In comparison: Each server in New World currently accepts just 2,500 characters simultaneously.
However, technically not everything went as smoothly as the developers had hoped. There was an exploit that allowed players to penetrate the Inner Sanctum faster than planned. Also, there were some issues with the Luzent that were supposed to be dropped by capturing and holding loot zones, which hampered the players’ fun during the siege.
Adjustments in PvP and a Look into the Future
What do the developers want to change? Tico assures that they are already working on compensating for the missing Luzent. The exploit that gave some players an unfair advantage will also be eliminated before the next siege in December.
Furthermore, there will be changes to PvP that will affect not only the sieges but also all fights outside of the events. Adjustments to CC immunity and the rewards of world bosses are planned to curb the formation of mega-alliances and give other guilds a fairer chance.
Hostile guild alliances will also be removed, and conquests will start at a later time. Additionally, there will eventually be an update to the respawn immunity timer, though it will not arrive in time for the next sieges.
On December 5, 2024, a feature will be added that will allow players to start their own PvP matches – both privately and publicly. While this feature will not initially provide rewards, plans are in place to add some at a later date.
What other changes are to come? Tico also talks about additional changes planned for Throne and Liberty in the near future. He announces the introduction of penalties for players who leave a dungeon prematurely. Stricter action will also be taken against so-called RMT (“Real-Money-Trade”), where players offer in-game services or items for real money.
Additionally, there will be adjustments to combat and movement at the beginning of next year, as well as updates that will make life a bit easier for players. For example, it will be possible to automatically decline group invites from outside one’s own guild and friend list. However, a specific timeline for when these innovations will occur is not provided.
Did you participate in the siege as well? If you missed the event, you will have another opportunity to prove yourself in the fight for the throne in December. In the meantime, MeinMMO author Cedric shares his experiences and whether all the preparation was worth it: I prepared for the big event in Throne and Liberty for 7 weeks and 350 hours – Was it worth it?
