You can get rich with Skinning in World of Warcraft. A player shows the yield from 100 hours of skinning – and it’s impressive.
Gold guides for World of Warcraft are available by the thousands online. Time and again, big promises are made on how to rake in several million gold in just a few hours. However, the truly useful methods need to be thoroughly tested and verified over time to obtain a reasonable return.
Christian “Goldgoblin” Gapp has been dealing with the most effective methods to make significant gold in Azeroth for many years. He is not afraid to try long experiments and simply see where perseverance and patience take him.
He has now done this with the profession of Skinning and has slaughtered raptors in Azsuna and crabs in Stormheim for a proud 100 hours, then skinned them for leather and scales.
Yield from 100 hours of Skinning
The yield is impressive.
- 194,356 Stormscale
- 104,381 Stonehide Leather
- 3,156 Blood of Sargeras
- 5,249 Oddly Shaped Stomachs (contain crafting materials and gray items)
- 10 epic “Bind on Equip” items
The yield from sales sounds profitable:
- Stormscale and Stonehide Leather brought 1,150,000 gold
- The 10 epic items brought 435,000 gold
- Contents from the Oddly Shaped Stomachs yielded 230,701 gold
- 1,600 Blood of Sargeras brought him 196,361 gold
- Gray items (“Trash”) yielded 150,000 gold
However, the Goldgoblin did not sell all the Blood of Sargeras, as some were used for Blacksmithing. In the end, it is assumed that he would have sold them for the same price (the blood is traded for crafting materials, which are then resold).
In total, the Goldgoblin comes to a proud sum of 2,350,000 gold pieces, which equals 23,500 gold per hour.
However, he is not entirely satisfied with his yield, as he had hoped for more random drops. He also believes that the results cannot be replicated anymore, as the scales and leather had a much higher value two months ago than they do today – the price fell from 5 gold to 3 gold. Prices fluctuate more on other servers. Realms with low player counts would likely yield less.
