This week there were major updates for two MMORPGs that many thought could no longer be saved. But there was also a lot going on besides that. We from MeinMMO summarize the most important things in the MMORPG weekly review.
The highlights of the week:
- New World is at its highest player numbers in 8 months, but why? We have answered whether this MMORPG is worth it at the moment. By the way, this is partly due to the new update Brimstone Sands, which goes live this week.
- The head of the MMORPG hope Ashes of Creation answers many questions about the game. Every class is supposed to get 40 abilities.
- Also, Tower of Fantasy has received a major update with “Vera” and is now on Steam. Will the update save the anime MMORPG?
This week’s hot topic: The Mage Tower is a popular challenge in World of Warcraft. Originally only temporary, it was then supposed to return permanently. Now Blizzard is deactivating it again.
This week’s discussion: Our editor Alexander Leitsch is in love with the new New World update, but one thing bothers him for the first time in the MMORPG.
Among other things, the great sword came with Brimstone Sands to New World:
Final Fantasy XIV steals our sleep
This is what happened with the big MMORPGs:
- A WoW fan chased a mount for 12 years, now he has it – but in the wrong game.
- Final Fantasy XIV brings a new dungeon and it’s so good that our community manager Irina Moritz almost missed work.
- Lost Ark announced in a trailer the next continent and gave a small teaser about the latest class.
- Currently, the Halloween event is taking place in New World. In our guide, we have explained everything necessary for you.
- In Guild Wars 2, there are some tough jumping puzzles. The hardest one has now been conquered by a streamer, and that with her feet.
This is what happened with the small MMORPGs:
- In the MMORPG classic Tibia, some players became far too strong. Now they are being significantly weakened.
- The Pokémon-like MMORPG Temtem reaches one million players and wants to continue to improve (via massivelyop).
- In Oldschool RuneScape, a streamer bet that no one could kill him. He survived 605 days and paid his killer a whopping 16 billion gold.
- Fractured Online is bringing a new subclass into the game and opens the stargates, which allow you to switch between planets (via mmorpg.com).
- The new MMORPG Embers Adrift had some problems at launch and even had to temporarily shut down its launcher (via massivelyop).
- The TMORPG Book of Travels shows what its new character creation will look like (via massivelyop).
- EVE Online announced several new things, including a Halloween event and 4 new ships (via mmorpg.com).
- The monster MMORPG Chimeraland will become a bit more expensive, but only for Apple users (via massivelyop).
Fractured Online shows an impressive live-action trailer together with Lara Loft:
A vampire MMORPG is too sexy for German Steam
This is what happened with the MMORPGs in development:
- The VR MMORPG Zenith: The Last City is adding pets to the game, promising a new class and housing in the near future (via massivelyop).
- Another VR MMORPG is on the way and is called Ilysia. The developers are showing new footage from the game after the second alpha test (via massivelyop).
- The vampire BDSM MMORPG Shadow’s Kiss announced an open beta phase for December, but in Germany you cannot participate via Steam.
- Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen also reveals new details about how unique items are supposed to work (via massivelyop).
These are the MMORPG news of the week at a glance. What was your personal highlight? Did you experience anything else interesting this week that you would like to share? Or did we possibly forget something important? Feel free to write it to us in the comments here at MeinMMO.
Our editor Alexander Leitsch was wondering by the way: Despite a strong successor, many miss Guild Wars 1 – What made this MMORPG so good?
