Dying Light: The Beast

Dying Light has always stood for a post-apocalypse filled with zombies, a fairly open world where the main character’s parkour skills play a significant role, and a brutal fight for survival from a first-person perspective. Given this premise, it’s no wonder that the first part was indexed and that both Stay Human from 2022 and the new The Beast are rated 18.
MeinMMO editor Jasmin was even able to test The Beast at gamescom 2025. She played for an hour and was relieved when the hands-on session finally ended. Not because the new Dying Light left a bad first impression, but because her adrenaline level was constantly at maximum:
The game wore on my nerves tremendously because I found no rest since leaving the city. The grim atmosphere radiating from the abandoned buildings did not help either. Additionally, the lack of ammunition caused me to prefer to fend off the zombies with a bat that had nails in it.
After the second part didn’t sit as well with some fans of Dying Light, it seems to be going back to its roots now, focusing heavily on survival horror, a constantly threatening atmosphere, and a combat system that pulls no punches.
