In Fortnite: Battle Royale, clues about new PvE enemies are piling up. Data leaks predict zombies and an ice event seems to be on the way. Players are wondering: When does the live event in Fortnite start today on Saturday? At what time does it begin?
When does the live event start? The live event in Fortnite is likely to start tonight, Saturday, January 19th, at 8:00 PM CET.
What will happen today? We don’t know exactly what will happen in the live event, but many indications suggest that in the coming weeks:
- ice zombies will invade, the Ice Legion
- new challenges for the “Ice Storm” event will go live
- the Ice King could play a role
- and that a “gigantic boss fight” will start across multiple servers
What exactly will happen tonight is still open.
It is possible that a cutscene will start at 8:00 PM, similar to the butterfly event in November, followed by a new event with ice zombies. This could lead to a gigantic boss fight in the coming weeks.
And then there are the icy dragon eggs beneath the fortress…

What do the zombie leaks imply? Data miners have found solid clues in the code of Update 7.20 regarding a familiar threat. Because the “Don’t call them zombies”-zombies from the Halloween event seem to be coming back.
What are the clues about the zombies? Initially, sound files were found that signal thunder and the moaning of zombies. There was talk of a “Deimos Spawn”. Deimos means “dread” and is actually a war demon from Greek mythology.
Then an image of the icy version of one of the monsters was even found and shared in the code.
TVs sending weather warnings – Is the next event on the way?
In addition to the zombie leaks, there are more hints about an upcoming major event. TVs have recently been sending a weather warning. It seems a snowstorm is approaching.
Many fans believe that the weather warning could be related to the also leaked new ice event, which is expected to come with additional challenges, similar to what happened during Christmas.

Currently, a timer is visible on the TVs. It is counting down to Saturday evening at 8:00 PM our time.
Everything points to a nasty ice chaos in Fortnite
These clues have also appeared: Besides the TVs, the leaked title picture from week 8 provides a good hint about the ice event. It shows the Ice King standing atop his fortress tower, summoning a snowstorm.
This fits with the mysterious ice orb hovering over that very fortress. The orb freezes the screens of anyone who climbs high enough and emits strange sounds.
These, in turn, form the image of the dark Ice King in a spectrograph.
When is the event likely to start? It could start next week with the event and likely also the ice zombies.
