Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) has a total of 17 different characters. We at MeinMMO show you in our tier list of version 1.0 which agents are the strongest. Additionally, there is a brief description of what makes them so good.
How was the tier list created? The tier list for Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) is divided into four ranks: S-Tier, A-Tier, B-Tier, and C-Tier. The tier list is intended to give you a rough overview of the characters from Zenless Zone Zero. We have cross-referenced sources such as PC Gamer, GameSpot, PCGamesN, and GenshinLab with our own experiences in the editorial office to create a ranking.
Tier List for Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) – As of July 2024
Here is a brief overview of our current tier list, followed by details:
- S-Tier: Ellen, Lycaon, Rina, Grace, Zhu Yuan, Nekomata
- A-Tier: Soldier No. 11, Lucy, Nicole, Soukaku
- B-Tier: Anton, Anby, Koleda, Ben
- C-Tier: Corin, Piper, Billy

Ellen
- Specialty: Attack
- Attribute: Ice
- Rarity: S-Rank
- Member of: Victoria Housekeeping Co.
Ellen Joe is excellent for beginners as she is relatively easy to play compared to other characters. She can move quickly across the battlefield with a special sprint mode, thereby dodging opponents’ attacks more easily.
She stands out with a high critical hit rate and high ice damage. Ellen can perform fast and precise attacks and also cause significant area damage (AoE). Additionally, she can freeze opponents and enhance her own attacks. Currently, she is probably the best choice for a damage character (DPS). She also uses little resources, as her main damage skills do not consume energy.
Lycaon

With Lycaon on the team, you have an agent who is more focused on support. He can stun opponents with super-fast strikes, which can also be charged, after a certain time. This allows the main damage dealer to take over.
Moreover, he also deals solid damage apart from stunning. Thus, he serves well as a second DPS character in the team—ideally alongside other ice agents like Ellen.
Lycaon’s talents such as Full Moon Momentum
and Energy Feedback
increase his damage and he regains energy. His role in the team is dynamic, acting both as an attacker and a supporter depending on what is needed in the fight. Additionally, he has a high HP value, making him tanky.
Rina
- Specialty: Support
- Attribute: Electro
- Rarity: S-Rank
- Member of: Victoria Housekeeping Co.
Rina shines with a high range and is a real supporter. She increases the damage dealt by her allies and is incredibly mobile.
Her passive ability enhances the electro damage of the team after attacks from her companions Drusilla and Anastella, which she can summon. Her Pen Ratio buff is practically beneficial for all characters. Moreover, she can increase shock damage and duration through a buff. Rina can also push opponents back with her ultimate ability. However, she deals relatively low damage herself.
Grace
- Specialty: Anomaly
- Attribute: Electro
- Rarity: S-Rank
- Member of: Belobog
Grace’s kit is overall quite strong. She hurls grenades, causing area damage (AoE) to her opponents. Moreover, she is very mobile and fast. Her attack animations range from jumps to somersaults.
Grace has the ability to quickly put enemies into a shocked state, accumulate her own attribute anomalies effectively, and improve the performance of other electro agents. Together with Rina, you have an ideal electro duo. Her talents such as Recharge Chamber
and Lightning Piercer
strengthen the team and reduce the enemies’ resistance to electro damage.
Zhu Yuan

Zhu Yuan is currently one of the best characters in Zenless Zone Zero. She is the only member of the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team. Zhu Yuan is characterized by her versatile attack abilities. She can deal physical and ether damage and switch between ranged and melee combat.
Moreover, she excels with a high attack speed. Through her EX-special, she gains charges for improved shotgun shells. This allows her to deal a lot of ether damage. She is the only member of her faction, which makes it difficult to unleash her full potential. We recommend that if you want to play Zhu Yuan, you include the agent Nicole in your team – whom we will get to shortly. Zhu Yuan is set to be released on July 24, 2024, with the Unswerving Bullet

Nekomata
- Specialty: Attack

With Nekomata, you have a physical damage agent with a high critical hit probability. Her skills are designed to eliminate opponents with fast, powerful strikes and high critical damage.
Her kit is designed to increase her own damage – for example, through successful dodge counters. If you prefer a fast play style and a lot of damage, Nekomata could be the ideal agent for you.
A-Tier: Soldier No. 11, Lucy, Nicole, and Soukaku
Soldier No. 11
- Specialty: Attack
- Attribute: Fire

The attacks of Soldier No. 11 combine physical and fire damage. With her abilities such as Raging Fire
, Fervent Fire
, and Uplifting Flame
, she can deal massive fire damage. Her ultimate Bellowing Flame
and her chain attack Uplifting Flame
are strong AoE abilities. At the same time, she is mobile and fast. She serves well as a main DPS in your team.
If you have at least 2 fire agents in the team, she benefits from Fields of Fire
. This additional skill increases her energy generation and improves her fire damage.
Lucy
- Specialty: Support
- Attribute: Fire
- Rarity: A-Rank
- Member of: Sons of Calydon
Lucy is a fire support agent who supports her team with her abilities while dealing damage at the same time. Her ultimate causes high AoE fire damage. During this ability, other team members regain energy, and the next switching character gains additional energy.
Her role is to increase the team’s efficiency and deal significant AoE fire damage, especially when she activates the Cheer On!
-effect (special attack). This increases the ATK value of the allies by a percentage of Lucy’s ATK, up to a maximum of 600. During her special attack, she can also summon Guard Boars
to assist her in battle.
Nicole
- Specialty: Support
- Attribute: Ether
- Rarity: A-Rank
- Member of: Cunning Hares AKA Gentle House
Nicole can create gravitational fields and pull enemies to their center, allowing other agents to deal proper damage over time – thus you can cluster many enemies together and bombard them with a team combo.
This gives her high AoE potential and makes her particularly effective against larger groups of enemies. Through her ether attribute, she can create a debuff (Corruption) that deals ether damage over time and can interrupt the actions of the targets.
Soukaku

Soukaku is a support agent whose strengths focus on ice damage and tactical support. Her skills are designed for direct combat and for supporting the team. Cooling Bento!
and Rally!
allow her to execute strong ice damage attacks while providing team support.
Soukaku’s playstyle revolves around building three stacks of Vortex with her EX-special, before using Fly the Flag
and switching to the Frosted Banner
-mode. This enhances, among other things, her normal attacks.
B-Tier: Anton, Anby, Koleda, and Ben
Anton
- Specialty: Attack
- Attribute: Electro
- Rarity: A-Rank

Anton focuses on electro damage and abilities that control the battlefield. His attacks can cover large areas. In burst mode, his attacks become stronger.
Anton benefits significantly from teamwork with other electro characters, enhancing his effects. His talents such as Warm-up Exercise
and State of Flow
improve his energy regeneration and provide additional defense through shields.
Anby
- Specialty: Stun
- Attribute: Electro
- Rarity: A-Rank

Anby is a character with electric stun attacks and slash damage. She is particularly useful for crowd control and as a stun character, allowing others in the team to deal significant damage. Thus, she works best as a second DPS character.
Through her passive abilities, she also has supportive properties for the team, improving the energy regeneration of electro characters.
Koleda
- Specialty: Stun
- Attribute: Fire
- Rarity: S-Rank
- Member of: Belobog Heavy Industries
Koleda is a melee fighter with a strong focus on fire damage and crowd control. Her abilities allow her to execute powerful fire attacks that deal both area damage and single-target damage.
She is especially strong in teams with other fire agents and can continuously deal good damage and stun opponents through her abilities. Together with Ben on the team, she can execute a strong combo attack. We will now move on to Ben.
Ben
- Specialty: Defense

Ben is a tank who deals fire damage. His fighting style combines attacks with strong defense, allowing him to block enemy attacks and counterattack in response. He can grant his allies a shield, which is particularly helpful when you have characters in the team that may fall quickly.
His talents such as Reacting Force
and Offense Through Defense
enhance his ability to block attacks while simultaneously reducing incoming damage or dealing additional damage.
C-Tier: Corin, Piper, and Billy
Corin

Corin is a melee fighter designed for a high critical rate. Her abilities, especially her chainsaw attacks like Clean Sweep
and Skirt Alert
, benefit from her critical hits.
Corin has several chainsaw attacks that can cause area damage (AoE), especially her special attack (Clean Sweep) and her EX Special Attack (Skirt Alert). Besides her AoE damage, Corin is also capable of dealing solid single-target damage. However, overall, her attacks are slower and her area damage is not as high as other characters on the list. Additionally, she is more vulnerable due to her low HP and defense values.
Piper
- Specialty: Attack
- Attribute: Anomaly
- Rarity: A-Rank
- Member of: Sons of Calydon
Piper is a melee fighter specializing in physical damage and mastering a variety of attacks. With abilities such as Tire Spin
and Engine Spin
, she can perform attacks that deal physical damage in large areas around her.
During her special attack (Tire Spin) and her EX-special attack (Engine Spin), her protection against interruptions increases and she takes 40% less damage. Her focus is on building assault anomaly, which deals a lot of damage to opponents.
Billy
- Specialty: Attack

Billy is a ranged DPS who shoots with two revolvers. He uses his EX-special attack and ultimate to enhance anomaly building. With his chain attack, he can deal a significant amount of AoE damage.
However, he has low HP and defense values, making him generally more vulnerable. With his high range, you can act relatively safely against melee fighters.
Overall, it is difficult to create a suitable tier list for Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ), as it also heavily depends on your preferences and how you assemble your team.
