In an interview, director Zack Snyder spoke enthusiastically about collaborating with Netflix for his sci-fi epic Rebel Moon and praised how much he could incorporate in the Director’s Cuts of the films.
In an exclusive interview with ScreenRant, Zack Snyder discussed the upcoming Director’s Cuts of Rebel Moon Part 1 and 2, his big sci-fi films on Netflix.

“Is really a dream come true for every filmmaker”
What kind of cut is that? Even before the release of Rebel Moon – Part 1: Child of Fire, the director announced that there would be two versions of his films.
- One is the “normal” version, which has a runtime of about 2 hours and 16 minutes and is rated for ages 12 and up.
- In addition, there will also be the Director’s Cut. This version is expected to be not only more brutal but also have a significantly longer runtime.
As Zack Snyder enthusiastically shared in the interview, he was given free rein by Netflix for the implementation of the more brutal versions of his films, which led him to rate the collaboration with the streaming service very positively:
To be honest, the deal I made with Netflix was probably the most rewarding part. They are incredible partners, and they are able to finalize the cuts exactly according to my vision.
The runtime is not an issue. The age rating is not an issue. All the things I was able to do with the Director’s Cuts, that is really a dream come true for every filmmaker, having complete creative control is a cool thing.

Moreover, the director has already announced the timeframe in which we will likely see the R-Rated versions of Child of Fire and The Scar Maker:
“[…] So that is what I am most proud of, that you will be expecting this ridiculous, crazy fun in August, which will be the best of both worlds for some people.”

When will Part 2 of Rebel Moon be released? Not only the Director’s Cuts of Rebel Moon will be released this summer.
