On Twitch, a major show called The Streamer Awards took place recently. Streamer stars such as xQc and Asmongold participated, among others. What kind of show was it? The Streamer Awards were an unofficial event hosted by the streamer QTCinderella. However, over 350,000 viewers watched live simultaneously. Various awards were presented to famous streamers.
Among others, the MMORPG streamer Asmongold won an award, which he did not accept live. Instead, he appeared authentically from his cluttered gamer room and was celebrated for it.
Who won? The big award in the category of Streamer of the Year was not won by the clear favorite xQc, but by the YouTuber Ludwig. This was apparently surprising even for him.
Controversial Discussion Regarding Ludwig’s Victory
What were the reactions? Although many fans were happy about Ludwig’s surprising victory at the awards – his legendary Subathon was mentioned, among other things – there were critical voices.
On Twitter, one user claimed, “I would understand if he had become ‘Streamer of the Month for March’, but this shit is manipulated!”
Others believed it was inappropriate for someone like Ludwig to come before their favorite xQc:
- “You deserve it, but xQc deserves it 3 times more! […]”
- “I’m not saying you don’t deserve it, but for the amount of dedication and content that xQc provides, and he still hasn’t got a single award, it’s really lame.”
Additionally, it was mentioned that the organizer QTCinderella is apparently in a relationship with Ludwig, and he jokingly noted during the award ceremony, “If you knew who I had to sleep with to win this award.”
What does Ludwig say about it? Ludwig himself addressed the matter in a stream. He is happy about the event and, of course, about his award. But he finds it unfortunate that the show is now overshadowed by discussions about his victory, and no one is talking anymore about how great the show itself was. Therefore, he feels his award is now “somehow disappointing.”
What do other streamers say? Ludwig’s victory, on the other hand, was well received by his streaming colleagues. The streamer and fellow nominee Mizkif tweeted, “You fully deserved this. Screw those who say you didn’t deserve it. You work harder than anyone I know.”
The well-known streamer Pokimane also commented on the matter and sent her congratulations to Ludwig.
