The YouTuber MacroBioBoi has accomplished what many Diablo fans thought impossible: in Diablo 2: Resurrected he killed the final boss Baal at the highest difficulty “Hell” without ever attacking a single enemy. He achieved this with special items for the Sorceress.
Who is the YouTuber?
- MacroBioBoi operates a rather small YouTube channel with 7,010 subscribers. There he primarily shows videos about Diablo, especially Diablo 2.
- With his expertise, he writes guides and more for Maxroll.gg, one of the most important websites for all Diablo titles.
- Now he has completed Diablo 2: Resurrected – as he himself states, being the first player worldwide in a peaceful run at the “Hell” level, the highest difficulty in Diablo 2.

What is so special about this run? A peaceful run is characterized by the fact that players must never attack themselves. Enemies can only be defeated by inflicting damage upon themselves – for example, through thorns and the like.
Additionally, the run must start naked. All used gear and weapons must come from the run. Traps, summons, mercenaries, and auras that deal damage are also forbidden.
This leaves participants only with special effects such as thorn damage from certain auras and abilities. This inflicts damage on enemies when they attack the player. Survival becomes the most important factor.

How did MacroBioBoi manage that? The YouTuber played a Sorceress in his run. To reliably defeat enemies, he relied on a special property of armors.
In Diablo 2, there are items that can trigger spells or effects when you are hit. In MacroBioBoi’s case, he relied on the spell Nova, which also plays an important role in damage builds.
Nova creates a field around the Sorceress that inflicts damage on enemies. The spell itself would be forbidden, but since it is triggered by an item effect upon receiving a hit, MacroBioBoi does not violate the rules.
He eventually raised the triggering probability to 100%. As a Sorceress, he also had access to useful protective spells, such as various armors that deal damage on hits.
That was the great difficulty: A special enemy in Act 4, Lord De Seis, is completely immune to cold damage and nearly immune to almost all other elements, depending on his random modifiers.
Additionally, his attacks neither trigger thorns nor similar effects. MacroBioBoi had to take advantage of the fact that other enemies attack him, activating his Nova to slowly defeat the miniboss. That takes time.
For his run, he needed over 50 hours, as the YouTuber explains – alone 23 minutes just for the final boss. However, he was still faster than someone who wanted to have all items:
