Twitch and YouTube are indeed a special place. Content creators continually come up with astonishing scenarios to provide their viewers with a show. Not all of these are a good idea or even safe. This was also noticed by the YouTube streamer iShowSpeed.
What happened? On July 4th, there was a major holiday in the USA with Independence Day, which is something quite special for many Americans. The 4th of July is often associated with large parades or spectacular fireworks (via sueddeutsche.de). Similar plans were made by the YouTube streamer iShowSpeed.
But instead of a well-organized firework display that adhered to safety measures, he opted for a smaller version in the middle of his apartment. This soon proved to be a bad idea.
The firework, a small Pikachu on an orange base, was placed on a cardboard box on his bed and lit live in front of about 38,000 viewers.
This was really dangerous: While Pikachu was sparking from its head, mind you in a manner clearly too large for an apartment, iShowSpeed began to panic. The YouTuber jumped up from his chair, yelled loudly, and ran away.
The shower of sparks increased in intensity. Sparks were now not only shooting from the skull and ears of Pikachu but also from its arms, which were directed to the side. Additionally, it started to spin on the orange base, further spreading its glowing remains around the room.
The right arm of Pikachu came to a stop aimed at a large cardboard box. This was next to the Pikachu on the YouTuber’s bed and was marked with a danger sign. It apparently contained more fireworks.
iShowSpeed recognizes the danger, and for a split second, you see him grab the sparking Pikachu and disappear from the frame with it.
A while later, the fire department arrived and entered the room. The livestream was still running at that point but was ended without comment by iShowSpeed a few seconds later.
How is the YouTuber doing after the incident? It is reported on Twitter that the involved persons are “okay” (@JakeSucky via twitter.com).
iShowSpeed himself only wrote on Twitter “Guys, pray for me”. Unfortunately, he did not provide a more specific reason for the alarming statement or further details.
Who is iShowSpeed? iShowSpeed is a major streamer who primarily showcases gaming content in his live broadcasts on YouTube and has gained tremendous reach in recent months.
Only in April 2022, the controversial streamer caused a scandal when he was banned for an extremely sexist and hateful appearance in the tactical shooter Valorant.
However, he is not the first streamer to use pyrotechnics in their apartment: A German streamer also regularly utilizes impressive effects in small spaces. The 15-year-old Crossmauz uses a plethora of light effects and even a flamethrower in his apartment.
