The YouTuber Anomaly explains in a video how he sold a rare skin from Counter Strike: Global Offensive for a lot of money. He encountered a buyer who did not speak English and even transferred the money in advance.
What happened? The YouTuber Anomaly, who usually appears masked in his videos, was very lucky and found a rare weapon skin in CS:GO.
It was a StatTrak AK-47 named “Blue Gem”. According to the CSGOFloat database, there are only eight of this variant in the game.
Anomaly auctioned the skin and received 32,000 dollars for it. He shared what he did exactly and what to pay attention to when selling a skin in a video. The event happened several years ago, but he has now decided to bring the story to the public.
First learn the price and don’t sell cheaply
How did Anomaly get so much money? The Swede claims in his video that many players make the mistake of selling their skins directly in the community market for far too cheap prices.
In his eyes, the most important step is to find out the true value of the skin. He recommends:
- Look at previous sales. Anomaly himself found out that his skin was worth several thousand dollars.
- Communicate with users who know more about skins than you do. This way, you learn the value and also draw attention to your future auction.
After some discussions, he started an auction where the first person directly bid 10,000 dollars.

Who won the auction? The winner of the skin was a user from the Middle East who must be very rich. However, the buyer did not speak English and used an interpreter for the transaction.
Anomaly himself describes the whole process as totally crazy, especially because the entire chat took place only through Steam, despite the large amount of money involved.
Initially, he suspected fraud and therefore requested that the buyer should pay the 32,000 dollars via bank transfer. This was to prevent an immediate reversal, as is often done with payment methods like Paypal online.
The buyer paid and Anomaly was happy
How did the transaction end? The non-English speaking buyer agreed to the terms and transferred the 32,000 dollars. Anomaly was very surprised by this and could theoretically have kept the money without giving up the skin.
In jest, he says in the video: “and then I went to Steam, deleted and blocked him”.
However, Anomaly stated that he behaved properly, handed over the AK-47, and is now happy about the large sum of money he earned from a CS:GO skin.
He seems to still be in contact with the buyer today, as in the video he checks how many skins of his type currently exist. It turns out that his skin is not listed in the database at all.
Skins for up to 100,000 dollars? At the end of the video, he shows his skin again, but this time with special stickers on it. He claims:
“The skin without stickers is worth around 40,000 dollars today. With these stickers, it could be worth up to 100,000 dollars.”
Whether the story really happened exactly like this is hard to verify. However, it is known that in CS:GO, skins are frequently sold for a lot of money, even for far more than 32,000 dollars.
