A YouTuber was annoyed by all the streamers claiming to have a ‘Clean Setup.’ After all, there were still a mouse, keyboard, and monitor on the desk. That’s why the DIYer built his own gaming PC that is nearly invisible.
How did he do it? To build the gaming PC, the YouTuber had to ensure that the following components were not visible:
- PC
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- Monitor
He took the desk as a prerequisite to even build a PC. However, by the end of his project, which took him three months, there was nothing on his desk.
You can watch the final result and the process of his project in his English video on YouTube:
The DIYer was best at hiding the PC itself. He took a gaming laptop, removed the screen, and built the rest into the desk.
The keyboard proved to be more difficult: The YouTuber cut holes for the keyboard and initially embedded it in epoxy resin. However, the layer was too thick, so he tried again with a thinner one. But that also didn’t work quite as he hoped.
Therefore, in the end, the YouTuber used liquid resin and painted the keyboard so that it integrated well into the desk. This trick actually worked, and the keyboard functioned smoothly.
The YouTuber simply left the mouse out completely. The trend of ever-lightening mice annoyed him, so he tried it with ‘Zero Grams’: He built a camera into the lamp above the desk and wrote a program for motion control.
In this way, the camera could capture his movements and identify which mouse button it would correspond to based on the direction and depth of his movement.
If you prefer real PC mice, these gaming mice might be something for you:
The monitor turned out to be particularly difficult. How can something be invisible if you want to see the image? Therefore, the DIYer came up with a different solution.
He built a mini projector into the desk and projected the image onto a plastic film using a mirror. He secured this to the wall with thin threads, making it look like the film was floating above the desk.
What the community says about the invisible PC
In the comments, users are very enthusiastic about the invisible PC. Some even say that the YouTuber should patent this setup.
We have summarized some voices for you:
- averagejoe3065: ‘This man actually did what people thought we would have in the ’60s.’
- icedfission8395: ‘This is a masterpiece and a milestone in the tech industry.’
- 5uperM: ‘This is the most creative and well-thought-out thing I’ve ever seen in my life.’
The community is nearly unanimous that hardly any cleaner setup would be possible. At the end of the video, the YouTuber also proves the functionality of the gaming PC by playing Minecraft.
Another YouTuber also got creative and made a gaming PC out of Lilith: A YouTuber designed a gaming PC with RTX 4080 based on the biggest final boss of Diablo 4, and the result is fascinating
