A voice actor and YouTuber had a brilliant idea: He is auctioning a gaming date with the streamer Pokimane (28), who has long been a star on Twitch, for charity. Huge bids are coming in, but they are fake.
This is the idea:
- The voice actor Connor “CDawgVA” Colquhoun is hosting a charity event and raising donations for the “Immune Deficiency Foundation”.
- As a special gag, he is offering a gaming session with Pokimane. With her, you can play your favorite games and share an unforgettable experience.
- Pokimane holds a special position in the gaming cosmos, as she was the only woman in the top 10 on Twitch by follower count for years. Her fans have often been accused of only watching her because she is attractive and thinking they have a chance with her. “Pokimane Tier-3 Subs” were essentially the simps of Twitch before the term “simp” even existed.
Pokimane is among the streamers who were able to professionalize through Prime Gaming:
Bids over $500,000 for a date with Pokimane were fake
This is now the result: Huge bids came in, over $410,000 and even $500,000. However, these bids turned out to be fakes.
The organizer is quite angry about this. He says it is “super cringe” to place fake bids at a charity auction. There is nothing sadder in life than to make false donations for a good cause. That is just extremely sad.
Even though the $500,000 is fake, the real bids are still very high.
Pokimane fans spend a lot of money, but they are not that crazy
What is the current bid status? The auction has apparently been cleared of fake bids, and the highest offer stands at $30,200 (via tiltify).
Anyone who still wants a chance at a date with Pokimane has to bid $30,700. Still high, but at least not half a million dollars more.
Who is bidding such large amounts? One of the bidders, who went up to $19,000, is the Twitch streamer StableRonaldo (21). He made his money with Fortnite and is using the auction to create content for himself.
Has this happened before? In 2021, the streamer Ludwig secured an hour with shooter legend shroud and paid $53,000 for it.
Pokimane is critical of the wording
What does Pokimane say about it? She shared a relatively low bid of $2,550 and fluted:
“Your only chance to play with me LMAO”.
Pokimane apparently didn’t find the phrasing “share an unforgettable experience” very nice (via twitter). Other Twitter users said it sounded like she was being auctioned off by a pimp.
For years, Pokimane actually had a flawless image and made sure to always come across as professional and friendly. Although she was under special scrutiny as the only woman in the top 10 for years, she managed to do this excellently with few exceptions. However, in her recent actions on Twitch, she has faced sharp criticism when she launched a product: The highest moral authority of Twitch condemns Pokimane’s behavior in the cookie affair.
