This was the effort Ludwig made: Ludwig had one of his employees program his own online quiz: “Dop*ple.” In the game, players viewed a digital medium and had to guess the year and month the medium was released.
Then he ensured that some Twitch streamers, whom he knew Northernlion was watching, played this game in their streams. Ludwig himself played it, but not on his YouTube livestream, rather at his good friend Fuslie’s stream.
And indeed: Northernlion took the bait and played Dop*ple, unaware that Ludwig was behind it.
Finally, Ludwig challenged his opponent Northernlion to a comprehensive quiz duel, suggesting his own game “Dop*ple” as one of the games they would duel in.
How did the plan go? Well, this exaggerated effort to develop his own game, over which he had full control, only partially paid off for Ludwig. Because ultimately, Ludwig didn’t want to cheat too badly, but merely ensured that he had a slight advantage in “Dop*ple” because the game’s topic of the day, France, particularly suited him.
Ludwig’s mother is French, constantly texts him about France, and therefore he thought he had comprehensive knowledge that Northernlion lacked.
Ludwig was indeed able to win the Dop*ple match against Northernlion by a narrow margin. But that was just one game out of a total of 14 games they competed in. In the end, the quiz expert still won with 8-6.
The conclusion from Ludwig: Instead of investing so much time into cheating, he should have learned the countries of Central America. Then he would have won.
