The gaming streamer FaZe Kay has 6.1 million followers on YouTube. However, after a scandal involving the cryptocurrency “Save the Kids,” he was released by FaZe Clan. He is now just “Kay.” In a video, the 25-year-old YouTuber claims his innocence and is close to tears. Two years ago, his younger brother FaZe Jarvis posted a very similar video: He had been permanently banned from Fortnite .
This is the situation:
- The YouTuber FaZe Kay and three other members of the FaZe Clan promoted the cryptocurrency “Save the Kids,” which quickly gained value but then fell. A YouTuber “SomeOrdinaryGame” accused them of being part of a “pump and dump” scam – either knowingly or unknowingly.
- FaZe Kay apologized to his millions of fans: He recommended the coin with the best intentions. He deeply regrets that his fans trusted him and lost money because of it. Kay said he is still a newcomer in the crypto market and is constantly learning. His clan, the famous FaZe Clan, had nothing to do with it.
- But FaZe distanced itself from the crypto dealings of its members, suspended three other members of FaZe, including Kay’s younger brother, FaZe Jarvis, and even outright fired FaZe Kay.
FaZe Kay says: “Dishonest man” also cheated him out of money
This is what FaZe Kay says now: In a YouTube video, FaZe Kay claims his innocence. He says:
“For legal reasons, I can only say the following: Please, please believe nothing you hear online. All the people making videos and thinking they know the truth, do not know the truth. This is the truth.”
FaZe Kay
Kay then says he also lost money with “Save the Kids.” A “dishonest man” abused the “trust that FaZe Kay had in him” to enrich himself by more than $100,000. He “cheated everyone.”
This man gained the trust of FaZe Kay and his friends and convinced them to be the “public face of Save The Kids.” But he abused that trust to enrich himself.
Before the launch of the coin, the “dishonest man” changed the code, pocketed a 6-digit profit, and left the others as scapegoats.
Kay is pursuing legal action against the fraudster
This is what happens next: FaZe Kay says he has gathered “substantial evidence” to bring the man to justice. He urges anyone who has also lost money to contact him and share their story. He wants to take legal action.
It is said that lawyers are already involved in the case.
Flashbacks to the ban of “FaZe Jarvis” from Fortnite
This stands out: In the video, Kay speaks with a trembling voice and wet eyes. He apparently wants to clearly show how emotionally touched he is.
The bitter irony is that his younger brother, FaZe Jarvis, posted a very similar video almost two years ago: The then 17-year-old lamented with wet eyes that he was banned from Fortnite for using an aim bot.
Like his younger brother, Kay apparently wants to ask fans for forgiveness. He does not admit his mistake but sees himself as a victim who was too naive and trusted someone else.
Kay likely needs help. His YouTube career could be threatened by the firing from FaZe and this scandal.
The “apology video” has 122,000 likes but also almost 23,000 dislikes. Viewers do not seem to fully believe that Kay was completely innocent.
Many assumed that Kay “and his friends” received money to promote the cryptocurrency “Save the Kids.”
For those who want to verify the family resemblance, two years ago FaZe Jarvis apologized for his ban from Fortnite and appeared similarly distraught as FaZe Kay now:
