The pre-event in World of Warcraft is not liked by all players. Cortyn from MeinMMO delights in the suffering of others – that makes it all the more beautiful.
In World of Warcraft the zombie madness has just broken out. At least if you are in the capitals Stormwind or Orgrimmar. If you sniff a bit too strongly at a corrupted grain crate or kill a diseased critter, you will be infected by the plague and turned into a zombie. As a zombie, you can (almost) attack all other players, kill them, and turn them into zombies as well. The same goes for NPCs.
On my server, players are complaining so loudly about it that it’s just silly. For several hours, the trade channel has been “crying” about how terrible the event is and that WoW is practically unplayable for a week.
Sure, I agree that the event is highly disruptive. Normal activity in Stormwind is practically impossible. If you just want to stand in the auction house or are sorting your inventory at the bank, you will be disturbed in your activity.
But this event is meant to be disruptive. It is supposed to bring variety to the daily routine. It is supposed to devastate Stormwind and Orgrimmar. That is the intention of this event.
Those who stay in Stormwind have only themselves to blame
Actually, I am a person (optionally: demon) who values harmony highly. But with all the whining in the trade channel, my schadenfreude really broke through.
And it’s not like WoW is now “unplayable”. You just have to get a little comfortable and leave the capital Stormwind. The effort required is small and can be completed in 30 seconds. Simply head to the portal in the Mage Tower, travel to Boralus, and from there continue to Ironforge. There are auction houses and banks there as well.
Instead, you can also spend hours putting on a song and dance in the trade channel and complain that these “degenerates playing zombies here” are all terrible people who “can’t get anything done in real life”.
My zombie experience with the event yesterday was great. I teamed up with some guild mates and we figured out how we could create as much chaos as possible as zombies.
So we first moved to the less populated parts of the city, killed all the NPCs there, and recruited them for our zombie army before storming and infecting the marketplace.
A different kind of house battle
Of course, it didn’t take long for the first resourceful defenders to come up with the idea of simply positioning themselves on the rooftops – zombies can’t reach them there. That, of course, didn’t help the NPCs and low-level characters. Nevertheless, the players managed to repel the invasion – for now.
Because the zombie players had a new idea. Instead of being slaughtered from below, they chose a different strategy. As living beings, they allowed themselves to be infected by an elect, so the timer began to tick. Then it was onto the flying mount, right to the defenders on the rooftops.
Just before the corruption wore off, we let ourselves drop from the mounts and landed on the defenders, whom we then executed as zombies with self-detonation, creating a whole horde of additional zombies in the process.
This battle continued for quite a while before we attempted to raid adjacent areas as well. Goldshire fell victim to our attack – it must have been the first evening in a long time where not dozens of naked elves were standing at the bar being stared at by drooling Draenei.

The lookout had to give in and was briefly converted into the territory of the Scourge.
It was only the attempt to cross over to Orgrimmar by zeppelin to annoy the Horde a bit that led to a sudden end. Because at the loading screen after Kalimdor, unfortunately, the zombie effect ends.
Nevertheless, we had a lot of fun yesterday, and that on both sides. The few sourpusses who were just complaining in the chat made it all the sweeter.
A unique event that brings a bit of chaos into World of Warcraft – I enjoyed it to the fullest. And you?
