In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, there is the possibility to play weapons from the predecessor. However, a player shows in a clip on Reddit how useless one of them is.
If you scroll through the various weapon categories in CoD: MW3, you will notice old familiar weapons that were also present in MW2, or even before that. One of them is the crossbow in the DMR category, which belonged to the “niche weapons” because it is so slow and only has one shot in the chamber.
However, it could cause decent damage with the right setup. A user showed on Reddit last year in a clip how he mows down one opponent after another with the crossbow in Warzone.
There were certainly players in multiplayer who liked to pick up the weapon. On Reddit, one of them writes on December 4 that he always enjoyed playing with the crossbow due to the consistent oneshot kills. However, that has changed now.
“The crossbow is unusable in MW3”
What is the problem with the weapon now? On December 4, the user “KaleIsMe” writes on Reddit that he used to play with the crossbow all the time. In MW2 it still consistently delivered oneshots, but now, in MW3, it can no longer save his life.
In the accompanying clip, he shows in about 30 seconds of gameplay how he hits opponents with his crossbow, but they only take damage without dying. In the end, he switches to his pistol to defend himself – but ends up dying anyway.

What do other players say about it? The comment with the most upvotes comes from “oogaboogadookiemane”. He writes, “All MW2 weapons are unbalanced in MW3 multiplayer. However, in zombie mode, the crossbow is one of the best.”
A user notes: “Nearly every MW2 weapon is unusable in MW3 due to the imbalance – the MW2 weapons have not yet been rebalanced for 150 HP. If [the developers] adjust this, MW2 weapons will finally be usable.” Another user writes: “They didn’t even touch most MW2 weapons before the release [of MW3] and just imported them as they were.”
The user “Gatorkid365” writes: “This doesn’t just apply to the crossbow. Many of the DMRs from MW2 are borderline useless. You might as well use an airsoft gun.” Another user mentions that people complained about going down too quickly, so now everyone is a walking “bullet sponge.”
