In Diablo 2: Resurrected everything revolves around items. They have special properties that make you stronger. If you find items with a certain attribute during your journeys, you should definitely keep them – even at lower levels.
What kind of items are these? These are the so-called “+ Skill” items. The property of increasing a skill can appear similar to additional damage or health points on an item. There are different variants:
- +x to all skills
- +x to all skills of a skill tree
- +x to a specific skill
The skills are tied to the class, and there are skills for almost every ability and skill tree of the 7 classes of Diablo 2. However, you can also find abilities from other classes – these will only be beneficial under certain circumstances.
You can usually sell these items to merchants for particularly high prices, and it is tempting to fill your pockets. However, these items are among the most sought-after equipment in Diablo 2: Resurrected, and you shouldn’t just hand them over to the next NPC.
Better skills thanks to items
How exactly do the items work? The items increase the value of certain abilities of your class. This is almost like getting another level-up for free.
There can be multiple levels of the skill on the items, sometimes up to +18. Such “+ Skill” items are especially useful and even necessary for later builds.
Accordingly, the items are highly sought after. If you find such an item, you should stash it – either for your next character or to sell it to fellow players. Usually, you can earn more gold selling to fellow players than at the merchant. However, we advise to only trade for gold – even if the RL prices are tempting:
Where can I find such items? Everywhere. In Diablo 2, special items can be in every chest and dropped by every enemy. The necromancer’s staff in the image above, for example, was found in a chest in normal mode in Act 2.
The higher you go, the better the items are in their base stats. Better items are worth more, and it’s more likely that you’ll use such an item later. However, there are also certain items that are even more powerful.
“Oskills” mix the classes
What are Oskills? With “Lord of Destruction,” the first expansion, items were introduced that grant abilities from other classes. This allows you to cast, for example, the sorceress’s Meteor as an Amazon or Barbarian.
These items are referred to in the community as “Oskill,” and the difference from the items mentioned above is that every class can use them. You’ll learn a new skill through them and can use it.
Items with +10 or more on the skills can occur here. However, if you use such an item with a class that already possesses the skill, the bonus is limited to +3. This ensures balance.
Where do I get these items? Oskill items are usually unique legendary items or sets. The set bonus of Trang-Oul’s Avatar, for example, grants the skills Fireball, Firewall, and Meteor.
Like most items in Diablo 2, you obtain these items through random drops – preferably from tough bosses on Hell difficulty. There are also so-called rune words that can grant you Oskills.
Rune words are specific combinations of runes that you find in the game. When placed in the correct order in a non-magical item, they create a more powerful item. You can find here all rune words in Diablo 2 and what they provide.
Have you already found such items? If so, which ones? What would you recommend to newcomers? Leave us a comment!
