In New World, the new patch 1.3 is expected to be released this week. This will make an important change to the equipment. From now on, those who want to buy good equipment from the trading post will no longer get the full strength accounted.
Update January 25: The new patch 1.3 will be released today at 1:00 PM. You only have a few hours left to take advantage of this trick.
What exactly will happen with the new patch? The update 1.3 will raise the maximum equipment level from 600 to 625. At the same time, there will be adjustments to the expertise system:
- You can and must upgrade your expertise to the value of 600 from now on to enhance your equipment with shadow fragments to 625.
- Shadow fragments can be obtained through the new dungeon mutators and also through the gypsum system.
- At the same time, a change will be implemented that will adjust your armor value to your expertise and may scale it down.
This last change will initially cause a lot of confusion. Because if you buy an item with an armor value of 600 and you only have an expertise of 500, the equipment will be scaled down to the average, in this case 550. The higher your expertise becomes, the less significant the scaling will be. The armor levels up with you.
However, this average change only affects equipment purchased after the new patch. So anyone who stocks up on new equipment before the patch or crafts the equipment themselves after the patch will not be affected by the scaling.
When will the patch be released? This is still not quite clear. However, the update is referred to as the “big January patch” which is why it should be released sometime in January.
On January 25, the winter event ends. This could be an indication for a release date. Usually, updates are released on Wednesday or Thursday mornings. January 27 is considered by many to be the “last deadline” when the patch should be released.
Stocking up with new equipment before the launch – is it worth it?
Is it worth buying new equipment? Sort of, as it depends on your current situation in New World. Because sooner or later you will have to level your expertise to play the new mutators and raise your equipment to the value of 625. This can only be done when you have an expertise of 600.
- For those with an average expertise of 560+, they will likely catch up quickly enough to hardly notice the difference.
- However, if you still have a lot of areas with around 500 expertise, the process will take a while.
- Additionally, if you have some coins left, it’s definitely worth buying, as you’ll fall behind less in dungeons and PvP content.
What should I buy? As in other MMORPGs, the chest and legs provide the most armor. Here an upgrade is therefore most worthwhile.
Also important are the two main weapons that you use in battle, as your damage largely depends on them.
Here are some general tips:
- When buying, ensure that the basic attributes and especially the perks match your playstyle. The armor value is ultimately not the only decisive factor.
- One of the strongest armors in the game is the Voidbent Armor. You can also acquire it at the trading post, but it costs between 10,000 and 20,000 coins per piece, making it quite pricey.
- Purple equipment items with an armor value of 590+ are often lucrative. They may have one perk less than legendary equipment, but they cost significantly less. Additionally, you will be able to improve them beyond armor value 600 with shadow fragments later on.
Have you already stocked up on new equipment or are you rather ignoring the change? How high is your expertise so far? Feel free to write something in the comments.
