In World of Warcraft Classic, a special technology is used at the beginning to facilitate the entry into the original Azeroth. However, there are many unresolved questions about layering. What is layering? Layering refers in WoW Classic to the technology of running multiple “instances” of a server simultaneously. Although all players have selected the same realm “Everlook”, there are several layers, meaning multiple copies of this realm. This divides the players and prevents the areas from becoming overly crowded.
Why is layering necessary? This ensures that thousands of players do not congregate simultaneously in the starting areas. Because then hardly anyone would be able to complete a quest. The progress for everyone would be massively hindered, ruining the first moments. To create a bit of distribution among the players, they are placed in different layers.

Can you switch layers? If you want to switch to another layer, you just need to be invited to a group by a friend. Then there is a short delay before you are transferred to your friend’s layer. Players always end up in the layer of the group leader. This ensures that friends can truly play together.
By the way, you will not switch as long as you are in combat.
Can the layer be exploited in PvP? Some players are concerned that with layering on a PvP server, nonsense can occur. There is concern that players can simply be invited by a friend who plays on another layer to escape an attacker and bring themselves to safety.
It has already been confirmed that this will not be possible. Anyone involved in a PvP fight will have a longer delay before they can switch layers. This time only runs out while they are not in a PvP fight. This is to ensure that layering does not affect open PvP battles.
How long will layering remain active? Blizzard has not yet provided a specific date, but layering is expected to be disabled “as soon as possible.” It is assumed that the first layers will be merged within the first days after the launch. It will probably only take a few weeks until all layers are gone. Because as long as layering is active, there will not be any new content.
