The survey results are in. How well is Patch 8.2 from World of Warcraft received by you? We reveal how you decided.
A few days ago, we asked you what Patch 8.2 has done in World of Warcraft. We wanted to find out if the latest update saved Battle for Azeroth or if Blizzard continued to stir your resentment. You actively participated in the survey, and we present the results here.
This is what the positive voices say
Every sixth person is really enjoying it: With 16% of the votes, about every sixth player thinks that Patch 8.2 has turned out really, really well. They are having fun with the game again and are diligently playing the new content waiting in Mechagon and Nazjatar.
This is what Sedor says in our comments:
I’m very satisfied with 8.2. I like the areas, especially in Mechagon I find it good that the rare bosses are rare again. There are daily quests again and there’s simply a lot to do. I’m really looking forward to the new dungeon and the raid. Above all, I want to know how the story continues.
A large part is positively inclined: Some more players (namely 21%) are cautiously optimistic. They believe that while Patch 8.2 does a lot right, it is still a long way until everything in World of Warcraft fits again.

Some things are fundamentally going in the right direction. I find the areas beautiful. I like the essence system and I’m thrilled with the crafting system from Mechagon. For it to be a complete success, however, more needs to come. Because many old issues continue to be carried over in 8.2. Something like a fundamental overhaul of all classes or a revision of the character level system aside. (…)
This is what the negative voices say
Some find 8.2 to be a deterioration: Almost 8% of the votes believe that Patch 8.2 is not an improvement, but rather has added some negative aspects.
This is also how Horteo sees it in our comments:
Rather a flop. The content is once again extremely stretched. Furthermore, the previous content of the addon is devalued. The main problem of WoW: It is a 15-year-old game that has been continuously expanded and would offer a wealth of content. But relevant with version 8.2 are exactly 2 zones, 1 dungeon, and 1 raid.
Only a few strictly negative voices: Only 4% of the votes see it as purely negative. They believe that Azshara’s Ascension has further exacerbated numerous problems in the game and that the heap of annoying elements has continued to grow.

Half see it neutrally or don’t play at all
Many view the patch neutrally: One in five finds the patch like all the others: with 19%, nearly one in five players thinks that Patch 8.2 has hardly any notable features and is “just as good or bad as the content before”.
A third don’t play anymore: 32% of the participants in our survey stated that they haven’t given Patch 8.2 a chance at all. They simply do not play World of Warcraft anymore, and they probably don’t care whether the update brought any improvements. Maybe these fans are waiting for WoW: Classic – which is launching in August.
Conclusion: Most playing players are satisfied
- In summary, 37% of players believe that Patch 8.2 is “rather positive”.
- 19% find the patch average, neither particularly good nor bad.
- 12% regard the patch as bad or believe that it has exacerbated problems.
- 32% haven’t given the patch a chance at all and do not play it.
The majority of still playing players believes that Patch 8.2 is an improvement. Those who no longer play should perhaps take a look at the new content and form their own impression.
