With the conclusion of Eden, Final Fantasy XIV now has 4 major 8-player raids where players can face off against tough bosses. But which one is the best? That decision is up to you in our survey.
What is this about? Since the reboot of FFXIV, new raids have been released at regular intervals in the MMORPG. The boss fights in these raids are extravagantly staged, featuring interesting and elaborate gameplay mechanics, and they are really challenging in their epic forms.
Patch 5.4 brought the final part of Eden, the large 8-player raid from Shadowbringers. The story of the raid is now complete. We now want to look back with you at the previous raids of this type and find out which one is the most popular in our community.
This survey specifically concerns the 8-player raids that have been implemented in FFXIV with every even patch since the release of ARR. They exist in normal and epic difficulty levels and tell a continuing story that spans an expansion. The Ultimate and 24-player raids like Alexander and YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse are excluded from this.
What 8-player raids are there? Since the release of Shadowbringers, there are now a total of four 8-player raids in FFXIV, divided into 3 tiers each.
- Tangled Shadows of Bahamut: The story of the raid reveals to players what happened after the incredible cinematic video that played after the end of the failed 1.0 version. We learned where Bahamut disappeared to after the disaster and how the story of the moon Dalamud ended.
- Alexander: The 8-player raid from Heavensward revolved around the mechanical primal Alexander, who had power over time. He was summoned by a mad group of goblins who wanted to use him to shape the future according to their wishes.
- Omega: With Stormblood, the raid to Omega arrived in FFXIV. The overpowering machine forces players to compete in an experiment against increasingly powerful creatures that it would otherwise unleash on Eorzea. The goal of the experiment was to determine what makes the Warrior of Light so strong, so that Omega itself can evolve and become stronger.
- Eden: With Eden, FFXIV changed the setting for its raids and went to the first world fragment where the story of Shadowbringers takes place. Eden is the first sin-eater, and Ryne wanted to use its power to revive the lifeless desert that nearly covered the entire planet after the flood of light.
