In The Elder Scrolls Online will release its fifth major expansion, Blackwood, for the MMORPG in 2021. We at MeinMMO take this opportunity to ask: Which expansion has actually been the best so far?
With the upcoming expansion Blackwood, it will be about the fight against the Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon. There will be new areas, new story quests, and dungeons.
ESO follows an increasingly established pattern of DLCs and a major expansion in summer. This pattern was initiated by Morrowind in 2017, with the DLCs thematically aligning with the expansion only starting with Elsweyr.
The Structure and Content of ESO Expansions
Each expansion in ESO brings fixed content, including:
- New story
- New areas
- A new trial
Additionally, there have always been further special features, including classes or new professions. We briefly summarize the most important content of the expansions:
Morrowind: In Morrowind, the story revolved around the God-King Vivec and his diminishing divinity. This included the introduction of the new class Warden and new PvP battlegrounds.
Summerset: In this expansion, the storyline continued with the Daedric Triad. Additionally, the Psijic Order was implemented, through which new skills could be learned. For crafters, the ability to craft jewelry was introduced.
Elsweyr: Dangerous dragons and the home of the Khajiit were the major themes of Elsweyr. Additionally, the new class Necromancer was introduced.
Greymoor: In Greymoor, everything revolved around a dark vampire lord. It also took place in western Skyrim and the Blackreach. Special features included antiques, the new mythic gear, and a revamp of the vampires.
