In Fortnite: Battle Royale there was a big event at the end of Season 8, where the vault was opened and the volcano erupted. If you missed it or want to experience it again, you can now relive it in an official replay file from Epic directly in the game.
How can you see the event again? The developers at Epic have released an official replay on Twitter. This file allows you to see the events of the event on May 4, 2019 again or for the first time. It is available as a replay file in the game, which you can use for screenshots and video montages.
How can you play the file? To use the replay, you need to proceed as follows:
- Download the following replay file: “TheUnvaulting_Event.replay”
- Start Fortnite and go to the career tab
- Select the replay menu and open the replay folder
- Paste “TheUnvaulting_Event.replay” into this folder
- Then press the “Update” button
- Select the appropriate replay and play the file

If everything went well, you can watch the scene as many times and from as many angles as you want. Unfortunately, you cannot play yourself; the scene is just a recording.
What happened on the weekend? On May 4, 2019, the big end-of-season event for Season 8 took place. For weeks, runes had been appearing again and again. Worldwide, millions of players worked together to solve the puzzles of the runes.
Eventually, there were two events. The big bunker at Loot Lake was likely the “vault”, the place where Epic keeps the weapons and items that have been removed from the game.
The vault was opened, and players could retrieve one of six items. To the dismay of many pros, the choice fell on the controversial drum gun.

Afterwards, all players were beamed back from the vault and witnessed the volcano erupting and – as predicted – Tilted Towers and Retail Row were completely devastated.
Only ruins remain there, which could possibly emerge as cool high-tech buildings in Season 9 and the rumored future setting.
Since not all players were able to experience the event due to technical issues, Epic is giving all affected players a free glider.
