Amazon’s MMORPG New World is on the starting line. MeinMMO therefore once again presents the system requirements of the MMORPG in detail and explains which PCs can run the game. And the requirements are comparatively low.

You don’t need a GeForce RTX 3080 for the MMORPG New World
What processor do I need? A processor with at least 4 physical cores is essential. Processors with only 2 cores are likely to struggle, especially in areas where there are many players. New World mentions the Intel Core i5-2400 as the minimum.
How much RAM do I need? You need 8 GB of RAM if you want to play New World. In general, we recommend having at least 16 GB of RAM in your computer. RAM is also still more affordable compared to other components.
What graphics card do I need? You do not need a GeForce RTX 3080 or a similarly powerful graphics card if you want to play the beta or the official release of New World.
New World requires at least a pure GeForce GTX 670 or an AMD Radeon R9 280. Both graphics cards are already several years old models.
Simply put, these are typical mid-range graphics cards that you could buy for around 200 euros in 2014. So if you still have an older gaming PC with an old mid-range graphics card, New World should not pose a problem for your PC.
Your graphics card should also have 2GB of video memory. With older graphics cards, 2 or 3 GB are still much more common. It has only been in recent years that manufacturers have started using either 4 GB or 8 GB of video memory.
What limitations are there? It is important that your graphics card must support DirectX 12. This means that a few very old graphics cards are no longer supported:
- For AMD, the Radeon HD 7000 series, Radeon R7 240, and R9 270 support DirectX 12.
- For Nvidia, the GeForce 400 and all GTX series from the 500 series support DirectX 12.
Newer graphics cards or integrated graphics chips from recent years are very likely to support DirectX 12. The new operating system Windows 11 even requires DirectX 12 as mandatory. In Windows 10, the hurdles were comparatively lower, as DirectX 9 was still sufficient.
How large is the New World download? The client of New World, which you can download via Steam, is 37.5 GB large. If you have just received your beta key, we can reassure you: The beta runs from July 20 to August 3. So you have plenty of time to check out the game.

Is it worth playing New World on low settings? Low settings may sound daunting in many games at first since who would want to play like that willingly? The advantage, of course, is significantly higher FPS values.
YouTuber sprEEEzy tested the game in August 2020 in various settings. In his YouTube video, you can see how New World looks in both low settings and high settings.
What looks worse? Especially large textures like roads, meadows, and building textures look worse and more blurred on “Low.” Details are particularly lost. However, the frame rate also rises significantly. In the video, the difference between “Low” and “Very high” is between 20 and 30 FPS.

What could New World offer in the future? New World requires a DirectX 12 compatible graphics card. There is therefore a chance that the development team could integrate the best gaming feature of Windows 11 into Windows 10. This could significantly improve the performance of New World.
