In the cooperative shooter Outriders you are always online and cannot actually pause the game. Not even when playing solo. However, thanks to a tool, it is possible on PC – if you are using an Nvidia graphics card.
How does it work? Outriders can only be paused in single-player mode and only on PC. You just need to press Alt+F2 with the Nvidia overlay enabled. You can activate the overlay via Geforce Experience. The pause function only works with Nvidia GPUs. The trick was discovered by Reddit user Aced-Bread and spread in the Outriders subreddit (via reddit).
Why only on Nvidia? It is not possible on other platforms and AMD CPUs. The game itself does not actually have a built-in pause function. However, it is still possible due to the Nvidia Ansel screenshot tool. Not only is the game paused, but you can also freely move the camera and take cool screenshots.
However, you should refrain from minimizing the application in Ansel mode. Then it continues running. Moreover, there are apparently issues related to the HUD.
So it is not just a pause function, but also a real photo mode. By the way: In our survey, you readers clearly preferred Nvidia over AMD. You can read the results here: If you want to buy a graphics card, you have a clear favorite – Nvidia RTX 3000 vs AMD 6000
“No HUD” bug has been causing trouble since release.
What is the problem? Since the release on April 1st, players have been complaining that the HUD disappears. It may look like a photo mode, but it is a bug.
What does it have to do with Ansel? Developer People Can Fly recommends disabling Ansel in this context. The “No HUD” bug could therefore be related to Nvidia’s screenshot tool. Whether you want to use the “pause function” is up to you.

In addition to the HUD bug, there are numerous other problems that have been making life difficult for players since release.
Server outages and crossplay issues since release
What is going on in Outriders? Since release, Outriders has been struggling with massive server problems. They usually go down in the evening. We keep you updated in our ticker about the developer updates on outages: Outriders has server problems – This is the current status
Additionally, the crossplay option is currently only partially functional. PC and console players cannot currently play with each other, which was still possible in the Outriders demo.
However, if you try to form a group between consoles and PC now, you will connect briefly, but the connection will be immediately dropped. Developers currently advise against trying this until they can deliver a patch.
