In Pokémon GO, a new event starts today where you can receive a Pokémon for the first time. And there’s even a method to do this that hasn’t been known until now.
What kind of event is this? The event “Steel Resolve” starts on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM and ends on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 8:00 PM.
In addition to various monsters and even some exclusive moves, that await you during the event, there will also be a Pokémon debut. And you’ll be able to obtain it in more ways than previously known.
1 Pokémon, 3 Methods
Which Pokémon is it? The new Pokémon is Meikro. The Flying-type Pokémon has existed since Generation 8. It can evolve into Kranoviz and then into Krarmor.
How can I obtain the Pokémon? So far, Pokémon GO has communicated 2 methods by which you can acquire the new Pokémon during the event. This includes hatching 2 km eggs as well as using magnetic lure modules at PokéStops.
Trainers on Reddit are now reporting a third, unannounced method to obtain Meikro. This involves the battle league, where you receive an encounter with a Pokémon for every 3 wins in a set.
Here too, you can receive the new Pokémon starting with the event. Since the “Steel Resolve” event coincides with the PvP Battle Week, you can complete 20 battle sets each day, significantly increasing your chances of getting the new Pokémon.
The PvP Battle Week begins on January 21, 2025, at 12:00 PM and ends on January 26, 2025, at 11:59 PM. So, for the next few days, you have a high chance to acquire the new Pokémon through battles in the battle league, without needing to hatch eggs or use a magnetic lure module outdoors.
What level do I need in the battle league? You can receive the Pokémon in the battle league starting from level 1. It’s only important that you win at least 3 battles within a battle set to receive the Pokémon encounter as a reward and have a chance at Meikro.
