How to Play Star Citizen for Free
The Star Citizen project is running under the name “Gamescom Free-Fly” and offers new players the chance to explore Star Citizen. During this time, players do not have access to the full scope of the game.
How can I play? For the promotional campaign, Cloud Imperium Games has launched an official website. On the site, you can create an account directly or log in.
Simply enter the coupon code “GETINTOTHEVERSE,” which you can also copy directly from the site, and download the game.

What can I play? Supporters of Star Citizen usually receive ships that they can fly. Players who are testing Star Citizen will have access to four special vehicles:
- MISC Prospector, a mining ship.
- Drake Cutlass Black, a combat ship with a lot of firepower and the most popular ship for new and returning players.
- Aegis Avenger Titan, a light freighter.
- Drake Dragonfly, a two-seat hoverbike for surface exploration.
The code also gives you access to some “modules” like the Arena Commander, a space battle, and Star Marine, a ground shooter. You can also simply explore the “Verse” with your ships.

The game is in Alpha: Star Citizen is currently in Alpha 3.2. The game is not yet complete and fully refined during the alpha phase. Therefore, expect that bugs and errors may occur and some content may not work fully.
