Are you unsure about spending your hard-earned euros on the new CoD, Call of Duty: Vanguard? Then you can test the multiplayer of the shooter for free from now until Monday, November 22nd, and see for yourself if the title is worth your money.
With Call of Duty: Vanguard, the CoD series returns to World War II and offers you many tried-and-true mechanics and plenty of content in multiplayer.
If you are unsure about the latest Call of Duty, you will get the chance for an extensive test in the coming days. MeinMMO shows you all the important information about the first free multiplayer weekend.
All information about the free weekend starting November 18
How long does the free weekend last? Vanguard is generous with its “weekend” and starts the free test phase already on Thursday evening:
- November 18 from 7 PM
- November 22 until 7 PM
For 4 days, Vanguard will open its doors to all interested players, and the fun ends on Monday at 7 PM.
What can you test? You can try out the multiplayer mode with the complete content. There are no extra modes for free players, but full access to all release content and Shipment – the first new map from Vanguard. However, the campaign and zombie mode are not available to you.
Who can test Vanguard? All interested players with a suitable platform and internet connection. The free weekend is for players on PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. You can find out what hardware you need here.
What happens to my progress? If you grind the whole weekend and then buy Vanguard later, your progress will be retained. Even if you enter the free Warzone later, your earned weapon levels will be saved on the new Vanguard weapons.
What kind of CoD is Vanguard? The latest Call of Duty is set in World War II and uses an enhanced graphics engine from CoD MW, the CoD from 2019. Consequently, it plays very similarly, and especially Warzone players should settle in quickly.
Upon release, Vanguard offered 16 6vs6 maps, providing more than twice as many maps as its predecessor, Black Ops Cold War. You can find more about its strengths and weaknesses in our game review of the Vanguard multiplayer: Why every CoD fan should try Vanguard, even if you don’t like the setting.
Everything about the download during the free weekend
Where can I find the download? Go to your console shops or check out the Battle.net launcher on your PC:
- PlayStation & Xbox: Search for “Vanguard” in the search function of your console shops and download the free test version. You will find an extra version marked as “Multiplayer Mode – Free Access”
- Battle.net Launcher: Click on “All Games” in the top left and then select Vanguard under the “Activision” tab. There you will see the big blue button “Test for Free”
How big is the download? On PlayStation and Xbox consoles, you need to plan around 30 GB. On PC, you need nearly 25 GB of free space.
The new Vanguard has become a good CoD, but it dares very little and relies more on tried-and-true methods to convince. Take the chance of the free weekend and see for yourself what the World War shooter is like.
