In the co-op RPG Genshin Impact, there are chests that can reappear after being opened. Here’s how this game mechanic works.
In Genshin Impact, there are plenty of things to discover and collect in the open world. One of them, of course, are treasure chests. Many of them can reappear after being opened, allowing them to be looted multiple times.
How do respawns work? The exact mechanics of chest respawns are not yet fully understood. It is known that there are certain reset timers.
However, not every chest will appear again immediately after the reset; instead, the chests have a certain probability of respawning. So it can happen that a chest does not reappear for several days in a row, while others may be available almost every day.
The respawn probability depends, among other factors, on the rarity of the chests.
Common Chests:
- They have the highest probability of reappearing. However, their reset timer seems to be random.
- Common chests can give you 20-30 Adventure EXP, 1-2 Sigils, a random amount of Mora, random weapons or artifacts, and character EXP boosters.
- It is also possible to obtain up to 2 Original Resin from common chests, but the probability for that seems to be extremely low.
Exquisite Chests:
- The reset of these chests also seems to be random, but they have a lower respawn rate than common chests.
- Exquisite chests can give you 2-5 Original Resins, 20-30 Sigils, a random amount of Mora, random weapons or artifacts, and character EXP boosters.
Luxury Chests:
- Luxury chests that you have opened can only appear after the third weekly reset. However, the respawns of these chests are also not guaranteed, but random.
- These are the best chests; they can give you the following: 10-40 Original Resins, 30-60 Adventure EXP, a random amount of Mora, random weapons or artifacts, and character EXP boosters.
It has also been confirmed that the chest with 200,000 Mora in the bank at the harbor of Liyue can also appear multiple times.
Valuable chests, on the other hand, seem not to respawn at all.
Players also speculate that there is a certain maximum number for common and valuable chests that can respawn each day. However, this has not been firmly confirmed.

Possible Farming Routes
The chest respawn mechanic lends itself well for farming chests. This works in certain areas where particularly many of them are located in a small space or where you can easily run through them without, for example, having to climb a lot.
The player Greatgear has found two such locations and marked them on the map:
To get from one chest to another faster, you can use what’s called “Bunny Hopping.”

In addition to the chests mentioned here, there are also 3 Nameless Treasures. These are hidden chests for which you need to solve puzzles. As a reward, you will receive Original Resin and the aforementioned Nameless Treasures, which you can exchange again for rewards.
How do the farming routes work? If you have now decided to check whether certain chests have reappeared, you can teleport to one of the starting points on the maps and get started.
Once you have checked off a section of the route, teleport to the next starting point and continue from there. Some starting points are used for multiple routes, and you will have to teleport there repeatedly.
Keep in mind that due to random spawns, it may also happen that very few or no chests appear on this farming route.
