In Diablo 4 the first seasonal event ever, the Midwinter Plague, is currently taking place. In this event, you can level up quickly with little effort and even gather materials to secure cosmetics and legendaries.
This is how you level up faster right now:
- Since December 12th, the Midwinter Plague, the 1st seasonal event in Diablo 4 is active.
- Until January 2nd, the entire area of the Shattered Peaks is enveloped in darkness for the event, and new monsters and events can be found there.
- The sheer density of enemies and events ensures that you can level up here as efficiently as in the popular Blood Harvests. Additionally, you can earn a special elixir here that makes leveling even faster.
What loot do I get? The most important reward from the plague is Gileon’s Brew. This increases the experience gained by 15% for 30 minutes, allowing you to significantly shorten your path to level 100.
Furthermore, you will receive cosmetic rewards from the event vendor in Kyovashad: templates for back and weapons for every class. Additionally, you can buy bags full of gold or random loot that can help you while leveling and in the endgame.
There is even a unique aspect at the vendor: Twilight Shard, which interacts with the event’s buff. You receive the buff when you turn in enough gathered materials from the event.
In doing so, you “level up” the event itself by decorating Kyovashad. For higher levels of progress, you will receive additional rewards, including legendary items.

Midwinter Plague: Farming Tips
For the event shop, you need a new currency: proofs. You can get the proofs in exchange for 3 different materials that can be found in the plague. You receive one proof for:
- 215 Pestilential Fragments; dropped by every event enemy in the area
- 11 Lost Heirlooms; obtained from the Frozen Shells that resemble totems
- 1 Red-Wrapped Trophy; dropped by the new event boss, which you summon when you complete an event with mastery
The best method to level up and farm quickly is through events. Just run a route in the peaks and switch from event to event. Especially keep an eye on the “Blighted Revelry” event. Only here can you summon the Red-Wrapped Terror.
During the event, several waves of enemies will come that you need to survive. Important: set the cart in the middle on fire and protect it until the fire circle melts the Frozen Shells on the edge. Then quickly destroy those shells before the little servants can extinguish the cart. You will need to set the cart on fire multiple times.
At the end, the terror will appear, which can take a lot of damage but doesn’t represent too tough a fight. Destroy the Frozen Shells along the way between events.
