In Dead by Daylight players can currently hear strange noises. This is not a bug, but a small event.
Those who have played Dead by Daylight in the last few days may have heard a small, nasty laugh that occurs during the endgame collapse. At first, some players thought it was a sound bug, but that is not the case. It is a small, more or less hidden event that offers an exclusive reward.
What is that laughter? The laughter can only be heard during the endgame collapse, that is, after all generators have been activated and at least one of the gates has been opened. The laugh sounds quite close, as if the source is right near the player, but that is misleading.
What do you have to do? The laughter signals that Gnome Chompski has appeared somewhere on the map. He is a small garden gnome with a red hat and a long beard. He can be found and then “crushed” by both survivors and the killer. If this is done, the laughter usually sounds again after a few seconds. Then the gnome has respawned elsewhere and another player can crush him again.
What reward is there? If you crush the gnome as a survivor and then escape, you will receive the little garden gnome as a charm. Survivors can wear it on their belt. Killers, on the other hand, only need to crush the gnome (and probably let the survivors escape) to unlock the charm. They can use it to decorate their hooks.
Who is Gnome Chompski? Gnome Chompski (or “garden gnome”) is a recurring element in the Half-Life and Left 4 Dead series. Usually, the gnome is associated with some rather difficult achievements. In Left 4 Dead 2, players had to carry the gnome through an amusement park overrun by zombies. Over several maps, players had to carry the gnome with them. The problem: As long as the gnome was in their hands, no weapon could be used. So the player needed protection from their teammates.
As a little Easter egg, Gnome Chompski is now also available in Dead by Daylight. Get him while you have the chance.
The event is part of the new update that brought more story about Bill from Left 4 Dead.
