You already know the story in the new MMORPG A:IR before you play it

In the MMORPG A:IR – Ascent: Infinite Realm, two factions are at war with each other. This somehow reminds me of the backstory of Bless.

What factions are there? In the MMORPG A:IR, two parties fight for dominance on the continent of Harth.

Vulpin – This alliance of several peoples lives in the southern part of Harth. The realm focuses on agriculture and art, valuing independence.
Ontari – The federation living in the northern part of the continent is made up of warriors who impose their will on others and are focused on expansion. Hunting also plays an important role.

In A:IR, the Vulpin fight against the Ontari.

This sounds somehow familiar…

How are the peoples connected? Long ago, the Vulpin and Ontari were united in the Solumn Empire. But a civil war broke out, as the leaders of the empire sought immortality and stopped at nothing.

The search for the formula for eternal life brought forth a colossal monster, the Black Herald. This devastated the continent of Harth.

The survivors formed the Vulpin and Ontari. Yet they learned nothing from the past, as a new conflict brews.

What does this story remind you of? The backstory of the factions in A:IR does not experiment. It is based on many MMORPGs where two peoples clash. Like in TERA.

However, there are some special similarities with the MMORPG Bless. There are also two alliances there, the Hieron and the Union, which have a similar backstory.

The Hieron live in the north and want to impose their order on the rest of the world.
The Union, which is based in the southern part of the continent, strives for peace and independence.

Both peoples were once part of the same empire, which fell.

Bless Hieron Union Map — In Bless, a red faction fights against a blue faction, from south to north.

The banners of the factions in both games also show similarities. In Bless, the Hieron have a blue banner and the Union a red one.

In A:IR, the Vulpin fight under a blue banner and the Ontari under a red one.

Generally, this can be applied to many MMORPGs. The backstory of A:IR is therefore rather classic.

Players already choose their party

How do players react? The similarity between Bless and A:IR has also been noticed by the community. However, this doesn’t seem to bother most players much. They are already considering which faction they should belong to.
