So far, some players can only dream of housing in Genshin Impact. But this doesn’t have to be a dream, as the feature has likely been in planning for a long time.
In Genshin Impact, there is a lot to explore and plenty to see. However, eventually the game world is explored, and some heroes may be tempted by settling down – at least temporarily. But so far, there is no way for players to have their own home in Genshin Impact. However, that could change, as the developers are reportedly working on a housing system.
Housing has been mentioned: Even before the release of Genshin Impact, the housing feature was briefly discussed. In a Korean interview prior to the launch of the game, the future plans were mentioned. It was stated, among other things:
In the future, we will develop even more characters and more storylines, create a richer gameplay experience through social media and provide more varied overall player experiences, such as a housing feature, online multiplayer actions, and more interesting spheres.
You can see the relevant part starting at minute 11:10. If your Korean is not that great, you should turn on German subtitles:
Are there more hints in the game? Yes. In Genshin Impact, you can meet numerous seemingly unimportant NPCs, who will unsolicitedly explain their life stories when you talk to them, as if you have been best friends for years. One of these NPCs is “Master Lu,” a master carpenter. He talks about how much joy it brings him to shape wood into new forms. This was discovered by Reddit user enzumei.
You can then ask Master Lu if he would take on apprentices. He doesn’t seem opposed to it but senses that we have “other things” to attend to. However, if we return someday and still want to, he is willing to teach us everything, as long as his old bones permit it.

When this “later” will be, only the developers at miHoYo likely know, as the feature will probably come with a later patch.
What could housing in Genshin Impact look like? Even though there is still no official information, one can easily speculate about such a feature. After all, Genshin Impact is essentially a grinding game. You would probably have to venture out into the world and gather various materials – such as wood from local trees or treasures from certain monsters in the game.
The accommodation itself could then be customized with furniture, and maybe you could even meet your favorite characters there – at least if they have a high friendship level.
You could also easily come up with a real gameplay benefit. For example, the house would be a good way to regularly receive gifts from the characters or perhaps get private side quests from locals in the area.
When exactly the feature will come and in what capacity it will be designed is still completely unclear. However, the developers have it on their radar, so one can already get carried away by some anticipation.
Would you like a little home with your waifus and husbandos?
