Already in beta, Ghost Recon: Wildlands generated great enthusiasm among players. Almost three years after release, the game is still receiving major updates. What is in the latest patch?
What is this update? Today, on January 23, 2020, Ubisoft released TU21 for Ghost Recon Wildlands. So, Title Update number 21. This patch is particularly large and brings many updates for the Mercenary mode as well as bug fixes.
How big is the Wildlands update? The approximate download sizes for the various platforms are
- 21 GB on PC
- 24 GB on PS4
- 21 GB on Xbox One
There are fluctuations in size depending on language and region.
What is in the new Wildlands update? Patch Notes
The new content is primarily aimed at the Mercenaries mode. This is a PvPvE mode for 8 players that was introduced in Wildlands in July 2019. This is how Mercenaries works in Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
Patch Notes:
- Added weapons and tools to Mercenaries
- Loot log for Mercenaries
- Weapon damage, bleeding, and armor have been rebalanced for more fun in Mercenaries mode
- Players now automatically pick up ammo and armor pieces
- Matchmaking now runs smoother
- Gameplay elements have been adjusted to other PvP modes – you can no longer aim with the sniper in third-person view
- The scoring system has been improved to result in fewer ties
- Stamina has been removed from Mercenaries for smoother matches
- Kill logs now show more details about deaths
- Those who die in Mercenaries no longer lose all their collected money
This is now probably the mode that is still popular in Wildlands and is being fed with changes by Ubisoft.

Additionally, some bugs have been fixed in this game mode. Problems related to Wildlands in general have also been addressed. These include various crash issues, texture problems with buildings and in the game world, translation errors, and more.

These problems come with the update – Disconnects and delays
The major update does not come without problems on the servers of Ghost Recon: Wildlands. On Twitter, Ubisoft support and the game’s account share that there are connection issues for PS4 players. These apparently arose in connection with today’s update.
This is the current status: In the afternoon of January 23, the Ghost Recon team shares that maintenance is still ongoing.
TU21 will be released next week (from January 27 to February 2) on PC and Xbox One.
