Guardians are logging back into Destiny 1 in droves. The reason: Xur finally has the Exotic that Guardians have been waiting for months.
Since early September, our “weekly Destiny articles” here on Mein-MMO, like the Weekly Reset, Xur’s visit, or the Trials start, have only focused on Destiny 2. After all, we want to keep up with the times, so we decided to make a clear break from these Destiny 1 rituals to start fresh in the Destiny 2 era.
This weekend, from October 20 to October 22, it’s worth taking a look back into Destiny 1. An event has occurred that Guardians have been waiting for months in vain.
Xur, the Agent of the Nine, is currently not only hanging out in Destiny 2 but also in the Tower of Destiny 1. And he has the Transversive Steps!
What were the Transversive Steps again?
The Transversive Steps are Exotic boots for the Warlock. They were discovered in the databases back in 2015, but they only made their way into the game with “The Taken King” in September 2016.
The Exotic perk “Vortex” means that you move faster while crouching. When you pick up ammunition, your weapon will be reloaded automatically.
This doesn’t necessarily sound like an Exotic that triggers immediate power fantasies, but they were indeed quite useful in practice. Some Guardians were big fans of them and used them all the time.
Therefore, everyone wanted to test how they played. However, there was one issue: To get the Transversive Steps, you either had to be lucky or wait for Xur to bring them. And Xur had been withholding the “Transversive Steps” for months – until this weekend.
You can now buy them until October 22 (Sunday) at 11 AM for 13 Strange Coins from Xur, if you want to complete your collection. Xur is in the Tower by the Vanguard, right next to the overview of completed quests.
In fact, this is not the first time Xur has brought this Exotic. Already in the first week after the launch of “The Taken King,” he brought them with him.
This current event has been celebrated in several threads on the reddit forum. At one point, the Xur thread for Destiny 1 even had more upvotes than that for Destiny 2. Many Guardians are saying that they will log back into Destiny 1 just for this.
Such heights of excitement, like when Xur brought the Gjallarhorn, are not quite reached by the Transversive Steps – but it does feel a bit reminiscent. The community probably won’t create its own holiday this time, like Gjallarhorn Day.
The Transversive Steps, by the way, returned in Destiny 2. What they can do now can be found here.
