Today, on September 22, the pre-order for the Xbox Series X and Series S began. It started off a bit chaotic, but has now settled down. Some shops still have or have again consoles available.
What happened? Shortly after the pre-order started at 9:00 AM, several shops crashed under the initial rush. For about 30 minutes, many links were offline. On reddit, users reported that they had to fight through several error messages and crashes, but in the end still managed to get a console.
After 9:40 AM, the situation relaxed a bit. Many shops then indicated that they were already sold out, including Saturn, MediaMarkt, and Amazon. A shortage of the console had already been anticipated. According to VentureBeat, there were reportedly only 7 to 14 consoles available in many GameStop locations.
However, after over an hour, there is still a chance to get versions of the Xbox Series X and S. Some shops have even added consoles back to their offerings – the chaos is not nearly as significant as with the PS5.
Which shops still have consoles? Currently, the Series S is still being offered. Most shops, including Microsoft itself, no longer have Series X available:

How strong is the interest in the console? Currently, it is difficult to say whether Microsoft has planned better, and that is why there are still consoles in shops, or if the interest is lower than that in the PS5.
