Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz from CD Projekt RED, the developers of The Witcher, believes that the upcoming Xbox Scorpio will be as powerful at release as a current gaming PC. The question is, for how long?
In general, the progress of PC performance advancements occurs at a faster pace than that of consoles. While new graphics cards are released rapidly, consoles are expected to remain relevant for several years. Therefore, gaming consoles have quickly gained a reputation for lagging behind PCs.
With the Xbox Scorpio, a console is set to be released in 2017 that is on par with current gaming PCs. At least that is what Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, who works at the developer studio CD Projekt RED, anticipates. However, he also believes that this parity will not last for long.

In an interview with GamingBolt magazine, Tomaszkiewicz discusses Microsoft’s new Xbox:
This is my personal opinion: I don’t know much about it. I think PCs are developing super fast. New graphics cards are released very frequently, faster than new consoles. Therefore, I think Scorpio will be on par with PCs. But I believe that PCs will evolve so quickly that they will have surpassed Scorpio soon.
