The new Microsoft console, Scorpio, will not be for everyone.
As Xbox chief Phil Spencer explained in an interview with Eurogamer, the new Xbox version “Scorpio” is only interesting for players who also own a 4k TV. For everyone else, “the most powerful gaming console of all time” is simply not worth it.
And it also sounds like it will be quite expensive. Spencer talks about a “premium price” for gaming enthusiasts. The target audience is clearly gamers willing to pay quite a bit for the ability to play in 4k. Those who can forgo 4k, Spencer recommends the Xbox One S(lim). They plan to offer it at a budget price.
The Scorpio, the new XXL version of the Xbox One, is a so-called “in-generation upgrade” and is expected in 2017. No exclusive titles are planned for the “Scorpio,” as Spencer confirms.
