There should soon be news about backward compatibility with the original Xbox for the Xbox One.
Xbox recently announced the next episode of Inside Xbox, which is set to air on April 11 at 00:30 German time. This upcoming episode will begin with news about the backward compatibility of original Xbox games.
In March, the first episode of Inside Xbox aired, a monthly live format similar to Nintendo’s Direct, which aims to cover current topics around Xbox. Now, the second episode of the show has been announced, which will be streamed on April 11 at 00:30 German time.
The exact focus of the second episode of the live format has not yet been revealed. However, new information about the backward compatibility of original Xbox games has been teased.
News about backward compatibility
In November 2015, Microsoft introduced backward compatibility on the Xbox One and has been expanding it ever since. At E3 2017, it was announced that games from the original Xbox from 2001/2002 would also be brought to the current console.
Currently, there are ten original Xbox games available on the Xbox One in Germany due to backward compatibility, including Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Sid Meier’s Pirates!, and BloodRayne 2.
Overall, players have a selection of 458 titles from earlier console generations through this feature. These can either be played using the original discs from Xbox and Xbox 360 or downloaded from the store, or purchased as a digital version.
Games offered as part of Games with Gold are always compatible with the current Xbox One.
In the last episode of Inside Xbox, topics included support for AMD’s FreeSync, which is set to arrive with the spring update for the Xbox One, as well as the pirate game Sea of Thieves, which was released on March 20.
