Microsoft has announced the games in Xbox Games with Gold for February 2020. Included is a classic from 2004. Players are not universally excited, but there has been some joy.
These are the Xbox Games with Gold in February: As always, there are four different games in Games with Gold. The selection is a mix of racing games, adventures, and shooters:
- TT Isle of Man (Xbox One, available from February 1 to February 29)
- Call of Cthulhu (Xbox One, available from February 16 to March 15)
- Fable Heroes (Xbox 360, available from February 2 to February 15)
- Star Wars: Battlefront (Xbox, available from February 16 to February 29)
On the whole, a good mix, but the ratings of some of the games are clearly below average. For example, Fable Heroes has a Metascore of only 55. Only Battlefront seems to please many players.
The reactions are nevertheless mixed. The video has already received 677 downvotes on YouTube compared to 1807 upvotes within just a few minutes. While it is still positive, it has a noticeably negative influence.
Games with Gold: Little Enthusiasm, Few Complaints
This is how players are reacting: On YouTube, the comments are mostly still positive, and players are particularly excited about Call of Cthulhu and Star Wars: Battlefront. The other games seem to leave them cold. User Umanabro writes: “The original Battlefront. I see nothing more here.”
On Reddit, the comments are even sharper. Here, most players agree: The games are not good, but at least they don’t own any of them. User UbisoftKenobi is more critical: “Well, I don’t own any of these games. Then again, there’s a reason I don’t own any of them.”
The larger and more expensive title TT Isle of Man performs the worst among most fans.
However, they still find it good: Many players are happy about the opportunity to play Call of Cthulhu and Battlefront.
Call of Cthulhu has a Metascore of only 66, but it is a kind of “cult game”. The Cthulhu Mythos is well-known and has many fans worldwide who enjoy immersing themselves in Lovecraft’s world. Call of Cthulhu invites just that.
Battlefront, on the other hand, is considered along with the original Battlefront 2 as the “really good” Battlefront. After the new Battlefront 2 was released in 2017, there was constant criticism of the game and EA. There was even a notoriously unpopular world record for the game.
How about you? Are you excited about the games or do you take a more critical view?
