The PlayStation subscription program, PS Now, will receive new games in April. You will be able to play Avengers temporarily, among others. This brings laughter as a comparison to Xbox Game Pass is likely.
What’s going on with PS Now? A total of 3 games have been playable on PS Now since April 6. If you have a subscription, you don’t need to spend any extra money to play these games. The 3 titles are:
- Marvel’s Avengers (until July 5)
- Borderlands 3 (until September 29)
- The Long Dark
PS Now works similarly to the highly praised Xbox Game Pass. You pay a minimum of 5 euros per month depending on the subscription model. In return, you gain access to numerous games that you can play without additional costs.
However, the new games in April earned PlayStation some ridicule. Thus, evil tongues noted: The Xbox Game Pass receives really great games, while PS Now presents the Marvel flop Avengers.

What’s happening with Game Pass? The subscription model for PC and Xbox gets better month by month. At the end of March, it was announced that the new shooter Outriders will be available for free at release on April 1 in Game Pass – but only for Xbox players. Now, a few days later, the Game Pass confirmed the return of GTA 5, another hit.
In addition, there are numerous high-profile titles, such as The Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 76, Minecraft, Rainbow Six Siege, or Destiny 2. If you also choose the Game Pass Ultimate for 12.99 euros, you get the games from EA Play, including FIFA 20, Madden 21, or Star Wars: Squadrons. However, one must consider that the games in the PC and console versions differ in some cases. Not every game from the PC Game Pass can be played with the Xbox Game Pass.
The Game Pass is extremely popular in the gaming world and is considered a good deal by many players. MeinMMO editor-in-chief and PlayStation enthusiast Leya Jankowski even mentioned in September 2020 that she would switch to Xbox because of the Game Pass.
What’s available instead at PS Now? A total of 643 titles are displayed when you look at the entire list of PS Now games. There are indeed some well-known games such as Bloodborne, God of War III, Detroit Become Human, or Horizon Zero Dawn.
But especially for multiplayer fans, the selection is rather thin. One could take Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 as an example. While it has a multiplayer, it is no longer entirely current. At least there are two worthy successors with Modern Warfare and Cold War.
However, there will be some new additions in April. With Borderlands 3, a celebrated multiplayer game is coming to PS Now and will be available until at least September. However, there is mockery and ridicule for Marvel’s Avengers, which seems less impressive compared to the new arrivals in Game Pass.
Moreover, with PS Now, you can play console-exclusive Sony games on PC. This works via streaming.
Compared to Game Pass, PS Now is also cheaper. There, you pay 5 euros per month for the cheapest model, while with Game Pass, if you don’t use tricks or promotions, you have to pay at least 9.99 euros after the first month.
What’s the problem with Avengers? Marvel’s Avengers was released in September 2020 and probably convinced very few players. Expectations were high, as Square Enix secured rights to Marvel’s popular franchise and also promised multiplayer.
In the end, however, the game was plagued by many bugs, the story was rather short, and there were many discussions about the loot. In addition, there was criticism regarding the Sony-exclusive character Spider-Man. Players who spent a lot of money on acquiring the game were disappointed. Since then, player numbers for Marvel’s Avengers have remained relatively low. On Steam, they even dropped to under 500 players at one point.
This is what fans say about the release in PS Now: The announcement by PlayStation that Avengers is now available in PS Now caused frustration among PS Now users and laughter from Game Pass users. However, there are also voices defending PS Now. After all, Borderlands 3 is a very good game, and you cannot really compare the two services. For example, both services cost differently. Moreover, PlayStation fans argue that the last hit of the Game Pass, Outriders, is currently receiving rather bad reviews and is plagued by server issues. Therefore, they are not really envious.
