The Xbox Series X is currently very hard to get. And according to Microsoft’s Phil Spencer, that won’t change in the near future.
What is the situation around the Xbox Series X/S? Microsoft’s new consoles were released on November 10. The Xbox Series X sold out within minutes, while the Series S remained available for a bit longer. However, it has now become difficult to even find the “smaller” version.
Right now, you can basically only order the Xbox Series X through Ebay – and at inflated prices.
Microsoft’s Phil Spencer responded as follows: “We have more demand than supply, and I apologize to the people for that.” He mentioned that the consoles have been built and shipped as quickly as possible for the last two months. However, due to the high demand for the consoles, they sell out immediately at retailers. He is very sorry about that.
According to Spencer, it has simply become very difficult to bring products to market during the Christmas season due to COVID-19. This applies not only to consoles, but also to new games.
It will take time before the new Xbox consoles are available for everyone
When will consoles be available for purchase again? Microsoft’s Chief Financial Officer Tim Stuart explained that this situation is unlikely to change until April 2021. It will remain difficult to obtain one of the new, quiet Xbox consoles.
I think we will continue to see supply constraints even after the holidays, that is, Microsoft’s third quarter, or the first calendar quarter.

Stuart expects that there will be significantly more consoles available between May and June 2021, and players will then be able to purchase them regularly.
And when we reach the fourth (Microsoft) quarter, our entire supply chain will be running full steam and heading towards a kind of pre-summer month. And there, I expect to see the supply meet the demand.

What does that mean concretely? According to Microsoft, it will remain difficult to get an Xbox Series X/S until May 2021. However, by early summer, everyone should be able to purchase one of the consoles.
This also means that those who have not yet been able to obtain an Xbox Series X/S will have to remain patient or hope for luck, perhaps being able to buy one of the new consoles earlier than expected.
