In Pokémon GO, you now have the opportunity to evolve Dakuma and obtain Wulaosu. We have looked at which of the two forms is better.
The event “Critical Hit: GO Battle Week” starts on May 21, 2025, in Pokémon GO. It brings you the opportunity to evolve Dakuma and obtain Wulaosu for the first time.
When evolving, you must choose one of two styles: the focused form or the flowing form. We will show you the differences between the two forms.
One Form at an Advantage
How can I evolve Dakuma? To obtain Wulaosu, you must evolve Dakuma. For each of the two forms, you need 200 Dakuma candies. Additionally, you must take Dakuma as your buddy and complete a different task for each:
- focused form: defeat 30 Dark-type Pokémon in raids or Dynamax
- flowing form: defeat 30 Water-type Pokémon in raids or Dynamax
Dakuma does not need to participate in raids or Dynamax battles itself – you just need to have it as your buddy during this time.
What is the difference between the two forms? In both styles, Wulaosu has the Fighting type. With the focused style, it also has the Dark type. If you choose the flowing form, your Wulaosu will have the Fighting and Water types.
Which form is better for raids? If you want to play Wulaosu as a Fighting attacker, the choice of style does not make a difference. In both forms, the Pokémon can learn the move combination Counter and Dynamic Punch. As a Fighting attacker, it is strong and barely makes it into the top 10 strongest Fighting attackers.
The focused form is still acceptable as a Dark-type attacker, but it does not belong in the top 10. For this, you should rely on other alternatives if you have enough.
In the flowing form, the gap between the best attackers and Wulaosu is even greater. Here, you should definitely rely on other Pokémon that are among the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
Which form is better for the battle league? In the Super and Hyper League, neither monster belongs to the absolute elite. While Wulaosu in the focused style can place itself far above the flowing style here, both monsters are still not recommended.
The situation is different in the Master League: while Wulaosu in the flowing style plays in the midfield, the focused style can rank at the top and is currently at 8th place in the Master League (via pvpoke.com).
Which form is better for Dynamax? For Dynamax battles, currently, Wulaosu can be found among the top monsters. Here, it is only surpassed by Gigantamax monsters.
Which form you choose is up to you. Both styles can be played as Fighting attackers. If you prefer to have an additional Dark-type attacker for your Dynamax team, then the focused form might be right for you. If you want a Water attacker, then you should take the flowing form.
For many trainers, the current event and the accompanying chance to evolve Dakuma into Wulaosu for the first time is a highlight. But besides this event, there are several others waiting for you this month: all events in May 2025 in Pokémon GO.
