During a special event, players had the opportunity to upload templates for the new class “Archer.” However, it seems that Black Desert publisher Kakao Games made a mistake in selecting the winner.
This is what happened: The new class Archer was eagerly anticipated by some players – by some since the release of Black Desert. To celebrate the arrival of the Archer, publisher Kakao Games held a beauty contest.
Players were to let loose in the extensive character editor of Black Desert and upload a template of their Archer. Other players then had the opportunity to use or modify this template.
Fans could win prizes in the two categories “The Best of the Best” and “Unique.”

Player wins with template of another
A winner from the North America region, SilverWolth, uploaded a picture of his Dark Elf styled Archer. With this image, he took first place in the “Unique” category. The problem: SilverWolth’s Archer was heavily based on the template of player Wilter. Only the hairstyle was changed.
On SilverWolth’s template, it is clearly visible at the bottom that the original creator is Wilter. The staff at Kakao Games apparently overlooked this despite the source attribution. Wilter is among the players who regularly win beauty contests in Black Desert.

Support reacts slowly: Wilter then contacted the support of Kakao Games and also spoke out on Reddit. At first, there was no response from support. However, a community manager reached out to him two days later and apologized for the long wait. Currently, Kakao Games has too few staff since many wanted to spend the Christmas time with their families.
They had started looking into the case, but around Christmas time, it would take a little longer.
