World bosses in World of Warcraft are not what they used to be. Now you can defeat them before you even have your first talent point.
For almost a week, the level numbers in World of Warcraft have dropped to 50. With the level squish, there was also a comprehensive rescaling of the entire game world. Many game contents are now accessible at lower levels, such as the entire area of Kul Tiras and Zandalar. However, this has also resulted in some unusual creatures being scaled – such as the world bosses.
What happened? The user CallMeReckful posted a small video in the World of Warcraft subreddit. It shows him playing his druid at level 11. He is not just leveling as one would expect for heroes at level 11, but he has attacked a world boss. He is fighting the big bird Azurethos, which can be battled this week in Tiragarde Sound.
Lvl 11 – Solo Azurethos (Big thanks to level scaling) from r/wow
The world boss is actually intended for a group of at least 5 players at level 50. While tanks can now also solo the boss at max level, it looked quite different at the beginning of Battle for Azeroth.
Why is this possible? Apparently, world bosses in Patch 9.0 scale with the characters. Particularly low-level characters are favored here and deal slightly more damage to compensate for their lack of abilities in this area. At the same time, opponents have fewer hit points, making them die faster. This brings additional advantages, which also positively affect the fight against a world boss.
Does this help? Defeating world bosses at such a low level actually has no real benefit. Loot is not dropped, and the corresponding world quests are only active at higher levels. So it is hardly worthwhile from a gameplay perspective to defeat the world boss alone. But at least you can show off a little with this achievement. After all, who can claim to have defeated world bosses even before they had their first talent point?
It’s questionable whether Blizzard will fix this. Because world bosses were actually only supposed to be accessible to characters at level 50. Otherwise, it could soon happen that tanks at level 11 will be taken along for such fights. And that is probably not the intention of the creator.
Are you also leveling a character? If so, you might want to check out this expansion…
