The most annoying resource in the current World of Warcraft is Cosmic Flux. However, it has now become much more manageable.
Although World of Warcraft originally planned to introduce fewer new resources, that seems to have failed with Shadowlands. There are numerous important currencies, and some are even mandatory if you want to play a character properly. The currently most important one is likely “Cosmic Flux,” as it is needed for character progression. From now on, you can also send the Flux to Twinks!
What has changed? Blizzard initially wanted to introduce the change only with the start of Season 4, but has now sneakily incorporated it into the live version of the game, and from now on, you can buy a “Pouch of Prodigious Wonders” in Zereth Mortis from the Armorsmith.
This pouch costs 1,500 Cosmic Flux to purchase and can then be sent to other characters – it is account-bound. However, you lose about 17% of the Flux with the pouch, as the corresponding character only receives 1,250 Cosmic Flux upon use.
Although this results in a loss, most players have very large amounts of Flux on one character, so it shouldn’t be a problem.
What is Cosmic Flux used for? Cosmic Flux is currently primarily needed for two things. You need the Flux to:
- Craft legendary items at the highest level (291). Cosmic Flux is one of the resources needed by the Rune Carver.
- Transform strong gear at the Creation Catalyst into tier set pieces. Only with the Flux is transformation possible.
If you want to play a character at endgame, you can’t avoid Flux because only with legendary items and tier set gear do characters reach their full potential.
The problem here was that Cosmic Flux was primarily found in Zereth Mortis, an endgame area. However, many players do not want to visit this location multiple times and therefore wished for a way to provide their characters with Flux otherwise. Thus, a means was created to transfer Flux between characters.
The solution with the Flux is quite similar to what has already been done with other resources like Soul Ash or SoulCinders.
