In World of Warcraft, you can currently grab a really cool skin for your dragon – without much hassle. You just need to take down a “small” boss.
Cool mounts in World of Warcraft are considered by many players to be the best way to represent themselves in the game. However, in Dragonflight, this has been somewhat restricted since you are mostly traveling on a flying dragon. While these can be extensively customized, you can only really stand out with a very special skin:
You can make your dragon look like Raszageth. And the best part: You can easily unlock this in LFR, the easiest raid mode!
What kind of skin is it? “Incarnation of the Storm Eater” is a variant for your renewed proto-dragon – that’s the one you receive quite early on the Coast of Awakening (the red one). Unlike other customizations you unlock, the “Incarnation of the Storm Eater” is a complete overhaul of your dragon. You cannot choose additional decorations, but instead get a “complete package” right away. Visually, your dragon then corresponds to the appearance of Raszageth himself – including the cool, pulsating lightning effects.

Where can I find the skin? The item “Renewed Proto-Dragon: Incarnation of the Storm Eater” can be obtained from Raszageth. He is the final boss of the raid “Vault of the Incarnations” and has been available in LFR mode since last Wednesday. So you don’t need a fixed raid group; you can simply participate in the raid through the automatic group finder.
However, it is advisable to bring a little patience. Because Raszageth still has the majority of her mechanics even in LFR, and many of them can lead to instant character death. At the very least, it’s a good idea to take a look at the dungeon journal or, best of all, a short video guide if you don’t want to be stuck on this boss for too long.
What is the drop chance? There are no exact details on the drop chance for the skin so far. However, most groups report that the skin drops only for one character in the raid group – if at all. So it may take several weeks before you get the skin.
If you don’t have luck the first time, just try again next week. You can also try with multiple characters if you have other champions at level 70. Once unlocked, the skin applies to your entire account – all your characters can then soar through the skies on Raszageth.
However, “Renewed Proto-Dragon: Incarnation of the Storm Eater” counts as personal loot. So you don’t have to compete with the raid for the skin and instead receive it directly from the reward chest after defeating Raszageth.
What makes it so special? In the past of World of Warcraft, raid bosses could only drop a special mount after heroic or even mythic difficulty. Thus, there were always exclusive mounts that could be used for some time only by the best players – or those with the biggest wallets.
Whether Blizzard made this change to make “sell runs” for mounts less attractive is uncertain. However, it is clear that corresponding boosting groups have likely lost part of their clientele now that the fancy Raszageth design will also be dropped in LFR.
